If it is gas , then you have no option but to turn the gas off at the supply tap until you can afford a gas fitter to come and check the problem
if you continue to use it then the consequences could be you ceasing to exist form gas poisoning or an explosion

I am asking if the error means gas or electric. Most everything I have found says that means an electric problem. I didn't smell any gas when it was showing the error

SOURCE: Calibration

Electric ovens are calibrated behind the temp knob. Pull the knob straight off of the shaft and look at the back of the knob. There should be a metal slide with a scale and a little set screw. Loosen the screw and move the slide in the direction indicated for your needs.

SOURCE: Top right burner on hotpoint gas range doesn't light

there is a spark ignition in the middle between the front and back burners....one for the left side and one on the right side. When it was cleaned i bet that the spark ignitor was slightly bent towards the front burner...now the gap is too big to fire the rear burner...the ignitor is very similar as the spark made in those push down lighters. so its safe to play around and adjust them as needed to make them work...Go ahead and take it apart and tinker with adjusting it...until you get both front and rear burners running again the way it was before.( peek at the otherside as a reference and try to make it match)
I hope this helps you out a little bit 8-)

My hotpoint gas stovetop is leaking aldehydes, per gas company. They said to replace gas burners. will this fix the problem?

I don't know your make and model number so can't tell you if it will or won't. BUT I would think the problem would be the gas valve and not the burners.

What led to the gas company being called? Gas odor? Give us some background to work with, so that we can give you better advice.

I have a Hotpoint gas range that has electric ignition for the oven. However, I don't have electric at my cabin. Is there a conversion kit for a straight pilot ignition available? The model number is...

Most gas ranges with electronic ignition aren't equipped to have a straight pilot ignition.
I'm don't even think they make conversion kit because of the routing of the gas tubing for the pilot source.

Usually you have to turn the gas knob way over to get the "click-click-click" of the igniter.
Its just as easy to turn on the gas and light with a match...or a long butane lighter.
Even a "striker" used in welding will provide a source of ignition.
A last ditch effort would be to get a replacement gas grill igniter...all ya gotta do is place the bottom of igniter on metal surface and press red button. (kinda works like a spark plug) and no A/C needed.

Hope this helps some.

There is likely some kind of gas line blockage or valve problem. This is not a do-it-yourself fix. Call a repair person.

I have a hotpoint range where the oven and clock display suddenly stopped working, but the gas range top does... what do I do?

Sounds like you have a bad main oven control board (ERC).
Bad new is you will need to replace it or have it replaced. Good news is that it is not difficult to do
