How are you checking for spark. Best is to use inlne spark tester. If laying plug on plastic housing will never get spark because it is not grounded. Rere to have to replace coil and almost never need to replace flywheel. Unplug wire Going to stop switch from coil. If wire is grounded out or switch is bad not spark.

SOURCE: craftsman leaf blower wont start

The air gap for the ignition coil core to flywheel is adjustable on some engines and the gap does vary.
On a Stihl, I used a matchbook cover first, then doubled it and got the engine to start. That amounts to 8-10/1000ths (0.008-0.010") as measured with a digital caliper after-the-fact.
I'm troubleshooting another engine currently from a McCulloch Airstream IV that only has ~12 hours and no spark but the coil measures roughly as it should; around 1K Ohms. Was surprised to find the company went bankrupt in '99. Another one killed by Asians and fairly poor design.

ALL ignition coils are gapped at about .010 or ten thousand. Rule of thumb, normal business card inbetween flywheel and coil

Replaced the ignition coil & also the spark plug, also replaced the gas. set the ignition gap to .010 or close

you didnt specify the problem but if you r having difficulty getting it to run you may want to check your fuel lines for minute cracks and splits as this is the number 1 cause for these machines to not run properly

No fire to spark plug

You will need to check the magneto air gap. That is the distance between the magnets on the flywheel and the legs on the ignition coil. A standard setting is about .010"-.012". That is about the thickness of a standard business card. You will have to remove the cover(s) to access this. The two items cannot be rubbing each other. The smaller the gap, the stronger the spark. Coil failure is rare but it does occur. Also, check the wiring on the On/Off switch and the subsequent wiring going from the switch to a terminal on the ignition coil. The problem is either in the air-gap, the coil, the associated wiring, or the plug.Process of elimination will get you there. Make absolutely sure you aren't getting any spark. A spark-tester is recommended for this purpose.

Getting no spark on my stihl sh85 blower/vac

You will need to check the air gap at the ignition coil/flywheel. It should be about .010"-.012" where the magnets in the flywheel pass under the coil legs. That is about the thickness of a regular business card. So, some disassembly will be required. If the gap is closed, or too large, you would have no spark. If the gap is OK, then the coil may have failed. Make sure the screws holding it to the engine are tight, and if you remove them, you may wish to use threadlocker on them, so they don't vibrate loose and cause the gap to change. If you need more help adjusting the air-gap, please post back.

I have no spark

Make sure you are at least grounding the spark plug on the engine when you check for spark (in lieu of using a tester). If there is no spark...it may be the air gap needs adjusting between the flywheel and the coil magnets. With disassembly you can get to it and adjust the gap to about the thickness of a standard business card..say .010-.014" Covers will have to be removed. Post back if needed.

25 cc craftsman weed trimmer.\r\nNot getting spark

If you're sure it's not getting spark, the first thing to check would be the "air-gap" setting between the magnets on the flywheel and the ignition coil module . The correct setting basically only requires the use of a regular business card and is around .010"-.014" If there is an air gap present, check it and then you can move on to diagnose the coil module ( they don't go bad very often) if necessary.

No spark

Check your armeratur air gap. Where your flywheel is, it is a magnet on the fly wheel that when it goes around the armeratur it sends a spark, the depth needs to be business card size gap from the flywheel. If you remove the pull start housing you will see the spark plug wire running to the armeratur by adjusting that closer or farther away you get more volts which means more sparks. If that doesnt work replace the part and you will get spark.
