Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: update for the Nextar 14-BC GPS

I had the same problem. After I removed the SD card and turned off and on the power switch on the back of the unit, the system software was upgraded from 1.1.8 to 1.1.9.x.

You can check by going into the navigation module and then clicking system information.

Anyone have a problem updating the detail maps on the dnx9140? I bought the SD card from Garmin but the unit will not recognize the card. It opened in my computer, but not the receiver. Garmin is...

The problem with updating the gps is that most if the time, the file used to be large and for some reasons i do not know, there do not seem to be updates too. So they come in this SD cards, to connect that to your gps. Just plug it in, if it does not open on your gps but opens on your computer, then it simply means the file that was used to store the map on the SD card is not compatible with your receiver. And all you have to do is to ask the supplier for the format which the map came with then check the format of your map to see if it is compatible, then you will see where the problem is from and you will be able to correct it. If the files format are different from what your gps can read, then even if they send you a new SD card with maps on it, it might not still read it. So Whatever the case may be, try to know what format it comes in.
Hope this information helps.

Sd/garmin

By connecting your garmin to your computer via USB, the sd card you have loaded in it will turn up as removable storage on your computer. You can treat it like a hardrive.

Without a cable, you can remove the sd card from the garmin and place it in a card reader hooked up to your computer.

Map or firmware updates for Nextar X3-T GPS ???

You should probably just buy a Garmin.

If you did want to update the maps you need to find the software company that makes the map (usually IntelliNav or Odyssey) and then buy it from them and PRAY it works by loading the new map data directly on your SD card.

From experience, this makes your GPS crash a lot and make sure you back up your SD card before you even attempt this.

Won't read an SD card

It sounds like either your GPS plug came out of the back of the unit, or your gps does not have a clear view of the sky, or if the gps is mounted on a trunk that opens and closes a lot the wire can break inside. I dont think the software is your issue, just to make sure if you update make sure the update file is the only file on the card, if there are other files (left over pictures, etc) they can cause the unit to disreguard the whole card.

Garmin zumo 550 map update problem

  1. Make a backup of your Zumo by copying all the file to your computer.
  2. Using your PC and MapSource select all the maps then send them to a SD memory card need 2Gig or bigger card.
  3. Try to rename this file to gmapprom.img and replace the same named file in your zumo. (I haven't tried this personally, so if it fails, just replace this with your backup and all will be as it was.)
  4. If this fails, you can use the SD memory card in your zumo and it will use this map instead, but it will take longer to boot your zumo.

I have a Finedrive 400 gps. When I turn it on it says it cannot find the card. I'm guessing the SD card lost map info, odn't know why. went to Finde Drive and their updates are $110. Do you know of sites I...

This is a common problem with these units, it happens if the unit is shut off while its writing data to the SD card.

one solution is to visit C&C wireless and pay over $100 for a map update or even send them your unit for even more $. see http://www.finedrive-acc.com/shop.cart?action=ITEM&prod_id=F400-08CP

The other solution was to send it to Fine Digital but they closed their doors in the US so they no longer support us customers. Because of this I made a DVD with map data I purchased from them before they closed and I added much better instructions; this DVD updates the firmware in the unit and loads the last map data issued to the SD card. you would need a PC with a DVD drive and SD card reader to use it. you can find these DVDs on ebay for $18 which basically covers my costs only.
