Hello I have replaced the clutch plates, the release cylinder seals and rebuilt the clutch master cylinder. There is no leaks and the system has been bled and it feels fine. When I pull the clutch lever in...

Back wheels often move when the lever is pulled in...this is due to hydraulic drag caused by the oil on the clutch plates and is totally normal. You should be able to stop the wheel by hand with the lever in.
With the lever out the clutch is fully engaged and the engine will therefore stall with the brake on...
As long as the wheel rotation can be stopped by hand with the clutch pulled in it's behaving normally...
Rocking the bike in gear is a method that's used to seperate the plates on a clutch that is dragging...usually if it's not been used for a while.

Hi! I have a Schneider 'speed' womens bike. The gear lever has broken off. I was wondering where I could order a new one from? Thanks!

Bike components like gear levers are almost all made by different companies than the ones that make bikes. Take a look at your lever closely for a name - a few common ones are Suntour, Simplex, Custom, Avocet, Campagnolo,... If you can't find the name on the gear lever, look at the derailer itself - they are generally sold as sets. Then google images using that name to find more info, like the model number. There are several on-line retailers. Lots of good bike parts on e-bay too. good luck, Al K

How do I move the breaks

I assume you want to move the brake levers to another position on the handlebar. Don't - they are where they belong. Your local bike shop or library bike book can show you how to use them properly. Either may suggest you use a different style of handlebar; listen to their reasons and make up your own mind. Finally, the cable from each lever runs underneath the handlebar padding or tape; if you want to move the lever more than a fraction, remove that tape. Then find the shallow groove on the outer side of the lever body, underneath the rubber lever hood - use a 4 mm allen down that groove to loosen the attachment band

Clutch seems to be seized because bike has been sitting for years

Is the clutch lever sized or is the plates sized?
Usually the plates inside sizes, all you have to do is select gear 2 or 3 without starting the bike's engine, operate the clutch lever and push the bike,it should release, the rear wheel should now rotate freely with clutch lever in operation and in gear.
Hope this helps!

Bike is sometimes hard to start. When bike stalls and goes dead,it is hard to start again. This is a 2003 honda crf450.

There is a proper way to start the engine. Four controls are on your bike to assist in starting.
  • The choke, used when the engine is cold. Pull the red knob for choke.
  • The " Hot Start " Lever, used when the engine is hot. Pull the lever to lean the fuel mix when the engine has been running.
  • The de-compression lever, always used.
  • The throttle, used to prime the cylinder.
Don't kick, instead, push the kick lever downward. You will feel the back pressure as the piston is going upward on the compression stroke to the point the pressure is great enough that the kick lever "locks up". You are very close to TDC. NOW, pull in the de-compression lever. Push the kick lever a little bit more to get the piston past TDC. Now release the de-compression lever. Give the throttle a 1/4 turn then let it snap closed. A diaphragm in the carb gives a shot of gas when this is done. DO NOT do this multiple times because you will flood the engine. Leave the throttle closed when kicking. A flooded engine will often backfire. Now give a strong kick through the full sweep of the kick start lever. Quickly get your foot off the kick lever at the end of the kick to avoid any chance of "kickback" from the kick lever. This happens in the case of a misfire, aka > backfire. It can be very painful, and can even break a leg. I am serious about that. Repeat the process (but without the throttle priming), until the bike starts. A good battery, a clean spark plug, a clean carb and clean air filter will also aid in starting.

Clutch Lever

I believe those levers are interchangeable with all coffin style master cylinders from at least 1987 through 1999 and they interchange with the remote reservoirs of the 2000-2002 ST bikes.......I know for a fact that the levers from the 1998 ST2 are interchangeable with the 1987 Paso 750 and the 2002 ST2 master cylinders.
