Installing internal dell m90 smart card reader

You have to take apart a good portion of the laptop to reach the Smart Card Reader spot. You need to turn off the computer, unplug the AC power and remove the battery first. Make sure that you are grounded to the computer. Then remove your optical drive and the hinge cover. Next you remove the mini-card antennas either from the mini-card or their secure spot, display assembly, the keyboard and the palm rest. Then you can reach the screw for the smart card reader and the place on the motherboard where the smart card reader connects.
The full set of steps and pictures is available from the Dell support site, http://www.dell.com/support/Manuals/us/en/19/product/precision-m90 . See the Workstation Service Manual. The direct link to the English version is ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_precision_mobile/precision-m90_service%20manual_en-us.pdf . There are multiple pages you need to follow.
I hope this helps.

My Mic in Dell Precision m90 stopped working after i downloaded Skype? Any suggestions on how to get it working again?

Have you checked the sound settings in Skype? Usually skype lets you to set your sound equipment individually rather than using the windows general settings.

Especially if you have onboard mic. Try the call settings sound options in skype and check to see if it is working.

Hc sd card on dell m90

Maybe your card reader is bad. Purchase a card reader that will read multiple formats of cards from a local computer store for less than $20. Plug it in your usb port and see what happens.

Hi my dell precision m90 has problem. While I'm doing some work it instantly shot down without any warming. From other answers from your site can be an overheating problem but a run the check for all the...

The M90 has 2 fans (1 processor and 1 video card) http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/wsM90/en/sm/fans.htm#wp1000550
while the fans can be passing diags, the system could still be having a cooling issue. Some things you can do are:
  1. Use some canned compressed air to blow out the fan intakes and exhaust ports. The hear exchanges can become clogged with dust and debris causing the cpu or video card to overheat.
  2. The M90 video card is replaceable. If the issue is re-occurring on a regular basis, there is a decent probability the issue is the card. Try booting to the F8 Menu and run system in the VGA mode to reduce the load on the video card. If the system runs without issue in this mode, then the video card is suspect.
  3. From OFF, Hold the Fn key and press the power button to initiate diags and see if you get a diagnostic failure.
  4. Update the bios and video drivers, see if issue resolves.
If issue still occurs after all of the above, then replacement of the video card may be required

I want to know how I can ensure that the built-in mic is not ON.I have a Dell M90 laptop thanks Dickyaiser@yahoo.com

Quick way: If you have the speaker icon on your taskbar, double-click it. If the Mic Volume block is listed, check the Mute box and close the window. If the Mic Volume block is not listed, select Options>Properties. Make sure the Mic Volume box is checked. Click OK. Then check the Mute box and close the window.

Long way: Go to Start>Control Panel. Double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.

Select the Voice tab.

Under Voice Recording, click the Volume... button.

Under Mic Volume click the Mute box.

Close the window. Click OK on the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window.

Thanks for using Fixya. Any problems, use the Comment button and reply.

I am a Support Tech for the Army and really can't find a solution to this problem. When I plug in my Cat5 cable it still says network unplugged only on my M90 computers, all other Dells I have connect find...

Perhaps the "other" Dell's network cards have auto-sense, and you're using a crossover cable... when you shove it into the M90, you get nothing because the wiring of the Patch Cable is not right.

Try a known good "straight through" patch cable.

Dell m90

This is a simple driver glitch. Uninstall the sound drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the sound card and reinstall the drivers automatically. Then you may need to readjust the settings.
