Question about Frigidaire Refrigerators

Frigidair side by side refigerator fan not operating

Frigidair side by side refigerator model number FRS26R4AWO. The freezer fan is not running causing both sides to warm up. The compressor and evaporator fan are running. The coils in the freezer will get cold and start to frost over. I removed the 120 volt fan, connected it to a power cord and it ran without problem. I checked the power coming from the pigtail that plugs to the fan and recorded 34 volts. I checked the continuity of the fan with a multimeter and it seems to be fine. Am I in need of an adaptive frost PC board? IS there a way to be sure before buying one of these? On previous advice I replaced the starter and relay on the compressor with no resolution. All lights work, the compressor is running. Thanks.

Thanks. I suspected the ADC, removed it today, looked it over and saw no burn marks or indication of burnt-out components. I checked a few of the resistors with a DMM and saw no problems. I could not find anything in the schematic that might indicate some othercomponent(s) being part of the fan circuit that could interfer with the power supply to the fan, so I've ruled out sensors and such. If the fan were to operate, the unit would be normal, so I suspect the ADC since it is the only control I can find that is in the fan circuit. Is there anything you are aware of besides an inoperable fan that could cause it to not spin? I thank you for you help!!!!! Much appreciated.

I do see the power to the evaporator fan section going through the adaptive defrost part number 240554502 It would not hurt to unplug for a few moments and open the control panel inside the fresh food section and examine that control board. With it doing that you may see signs of heat or burn marks on the ADC Let me know, Sea Breeze

With an OHM meter and the refrigerator unplugged take the evaporator fan pin plug apart ant test each wire to the wide side of the plug that goes into the wall. That side should be the neutral side. You should get no resistance. The power supplied to power the ADC board goes to E8 on the ADC Board and should come up to the same when it exits the board at E9. The answer to your question is yes there may be another problem but there are no more boards to be concerned about. It could be a problem in the harness somewhere. But carefully testing resistance and then switching the meter over to AC voltage you should 120 volts at

E9 on the ADC when plugged in and the try to pick up neutral somwhere like the side of the fan wire that comes up as nutral during the OHM's check. Not the low voltage results you got at the fan motor. Here is a link to the wiring diagram.

Sounds like a defective start relay, run capacitor overload and possibly a defective condenser fan may have started the problem. What is the correct model number found around the fresh food section door?

Frigidair FRS26ZRFW3 to warm, I replaced the themorstate. Can you tell me how to determine if the damper is working in refridge side?

Hi; Yes this is easy, with the unit running You should feel coldddd air comming from the vent from the freezer side. This is also adjustable usually. See the freezer uses a fan to force air over to the cooler. If the unit is running and You dont feel air flow then check for over stocking in the freezer compartment covering the air intake holes...alpharome416

Our frig will frost up on the frezzer side and the refigerator side will not stay cold what can cause this?

you have a defrost problem, you could have a bad thermostat,a bad timer or addaptive defrost board, you didn't send model number so i can't tell you what you have there or a bad heater, you need to take off the back wall inside the freezer, and read out the heater and thermostat to see what's bad,and melt out all the ice,if you want to send model number i can look it up for you, also when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing,if not you could have a bad evap fan motor

Freeze slite cool but refigerator is not cool at all

Sounds like a defrost system failure. This could be the freezer fan, heater, timer. You need an OHM meter.

You can manually defrost the freezer with a hair dryer that will get it working for a couple of days. Remember there is a lot of ice behind the freezer back wall, you can only see the tip of the iceburg.
