SOURCE: AEG Electrolux Lavatherm 57800:
try cleaning the drum contact on the rear of the machine. It is a carbon brush that contacts the drum spindle. It can get covered in carbon from the brush.Remove the plastic cover containing the contact brush, clean out all carbon dust and lightly sand the drum spindle to remove any surface build-up and ensure a good electrical contact then reassemble.

SOURCE: AEG Lavatherm 57800 error E50
The problem is a worn motor carbon brush which connects power to the motor commutator. The carbon brushes are worn if the motor runs intermittently, if sparks are coming from the brushes, or if the motor doesn't run at all. This video should help you know more about motor carbon brushes and how they work. The video features a washing machine but the carbon brushes are basically the same.

SOURCE: I have AEG Lavatherm T-300-W
If it spins, it's your element...but if its your element, it could just be your thermal fuses...which can be repaired rather than replace the whole element which is very expensive. firstname.lastname@example.org or www.handyman.co.za
