SOURCE: Bernina Arista 730 Check hook system - This

The 730 rotary hook is a bit sensitive to adjustment and cleaning. Make sure that the hook is clean and if you haven't oiled it for a while, give it a drop of oil (do you know where to put it ... many dont !) Check your needle is OK and, again, if used for a while, just put a new one in anyway. Load-up with different colours of the same type of thread top and bottom and sew-off a sequence of zig-zag, starting with the default and increasing the width and reducing the length until you get to a maximum width satin-stitch (dont increase the bobbin or top tension as you do it). Once you've done that, let me know what it looks like. The colours should be equal top and bottom, but maybe just a bit of top coming through to the underside on max width satin stitch. You'd also be advised to sew-off using pattern number 437 and the figure '9' - this will check the balance of the machine. If the '9' is not perfect, or the top section of the pattern 437 is not dead-central on the top of the triangular part of the pattern, the balance may need adjustment. Let me know how you get on.

My artista 200 has an error message check hook system. What is the hook system and how do I check it?

The hook system is the mechanism where the bobbin resides. It actually hooks the top thread in the process of forming a stitch. Most likely it has a build-up of lint, threads, etc. Apparently, the hook on your machine cannot be removed, however, there is some maintenance you can perform. If you have instructions for oiling your machine, you should take care of that also.

You may need some cleaning, oiling or maintenance?
Tips for cleaning and maintenance:

Oil the hook after having used the content of 3 to 4 bobbins. The machine
screen will display a reminder

Increasing noise of the motor and/or irregular
stitch formation can also be an indication that oiling is necessary

Remove any lint from the hook and the bobbin area, then remove the stitch plate

Bernina virtuosa 160 is jammed

When you say you were oiling it ... what were you oiling ??? Normally, unless you know what you're doing, you should only oil one part ... the hook. Have you removed the hook, cleaned the hook race, oiled it and then replaced the hook ... if so, have you replaced the hook properly because if not, that could easily cause a jam-up ... check that first. If you removed the head cover and started randomly oiling parts of the needle bar and takeup mechanism, does leaving the head cover off remove the jam ? Have you removed the free-arm cover and started messing-about with the cams etc that drive the feed-dogs ? If so, you may have disturbed the reversing cam - this is mounted on the end of the upper shaft in the free-arm. The other thing you can do is jam up the feed-dog drop mechanism if you replace the front cover with the feed-dog drop button pressed in. Some suggestions to start with ... best suggestion is, however, if you dont know what you're doing, please just restrict yourself to cleaning and oiling the hook ! Shout if I can be of more constructive help.

"Please check hook system" ?

clean out rotary hook area following manual instructions on how to do this, usually removing bobbin holder and bobbin, then the rotary hook area by undoing the latches each side.

Could be a thread jamming in there causing the error message.
