Elna Funstyler, type 3003 FS. The straight stitch begins then sucks material down into the bobbin area and knots up. I've tried all the manual's suggestions and nothing seems to work.

Be sure to use a brand new sharp needle that is compatible with the thread and fabric (see link below). The type of needle may need a larger scarf/groove to shield the thread (ie, top stitch or embroidery) and pierce the fabric easier.

If your machine has the option for a straight-stitch (vs zig-zag) needle plate, you may want to try using that. The small needle hole will restrict the fabric from being pushed down into the bobbin area.

Yes, any low shank should work. If it doesn't you can always regift it to someone.

I have an Elnita 140 sewing machine and would like to obtain Presser Feet for it- can anyone help?

I am 90% certain that any low shank foot will fit this machine. Does your machine info plate say "made in Japan" or "made for Elna" anywhere? Is it about 30 years old? I'm pretty sure this was a "made under licence for" Elna Tavaro and that the machine is front loading bobbin model with pretty standard generic low shank feet; may be clip on too.

If this aligns with your machine, you should be able to buy low shank feet such as these at Or if they are clip on, you can just buy the foot, not foot and ankle.

The Elnita name was also used on Swiss made machines such as the 17 ZZ and I think used again recently however so it can get confusing. You could ask Elna themselves; start at, then go to your country, then "contact us" page to find a phone number of email. I have found that contacting the manufacturer/distributor in your country is often best. Or look at the images of the feet on sewingpartsonline, see if they look like what you've got on the machine now and take a chance on buying one or asking them if it would fit.

HI, I have an old Elna Stella, bought in Australia in 1983. The shank that holds the presser foot onto the column keeps slipping forward. This causes the needle to strike the presser foot at the back edge...

Are all your sewing feet in one piece that screw on? I'm struggling understanding what your foot is actually doing Lindy; is it because the nut loosens up quickly? or is it possible that the foot you are using is not an Elna foot?

Elna later changed to "Low Shank" clip on feet with the Air Electronic range and these should be interchangeable with your Stella. I found a good website for this, and he has the "Pressure Foot Shank" which is the later swissmade shank for the swiss made Elnas. I couldn't see a replacement screw to hold on the feet though but a sewing machine dealer might be able to track one down. Or try Ebay, still some swiss Elna stuff out there.

good luck

I have an Elna Funstyler sewing machine and when i sew zig zag the bobbin thread shows up on top, have tried changing tension and doesn't help. Is there any way to oil this machine? Instruction manual say...

If your thread tension is OK and u have correctly threaded machine, I would check manual for first the right bobbin and put in machine right. I have have issues from badly wound bobbins too. If you have replaced correct needle and your fabric, thread and tension are good, I would check manual for the right bobbin tension. Wish I knew more to help......

I need a new foot for my old elna, where can I purchase one. Elna SP purchased around 1971 --1972 from White Sewing Center , Cocoa Fla I live in Mount Holly N.C. 28120

you can buy Elna parts from, he specialises in the Swiss Elnas and carries range of stock. Or or stock Elna parts for both early Swiss as well as the latet ones. not sure if you meant a pressure foot or the foot control. If its pressure feet the generic low shank feet may well fit your mschine too once you buy the pressure foot adaptor for the newer clip on feet. There was a Lotus Sp and a star SP but the pressure feet were the same with the built in shank you attached with a thumb screw. the air electronics had the adaptor and clip on feet but they have same height and needle position so can use on earlier ones too.

Sewing Machine: loose stitch that's easy to pull out.

Check that the upper and lower threading are correct. Check that the thread has tension from the bobbin case.
