Go to and enter 800x. With luck you will be presented with a list of common replacement parts and may be able to view a generic Hitachi video showing disassembly and identification of major parts.

Drive Belt Installation on a Whirlpool Duet or Kenmore Elite Front Loader

This advice is on how to replace the drive belt on Whirlpool Duet and Kenmore Elite front loader washing machines. To replace the drive belt on a Whirlpool Duet washer, follow these steps:

1. Unplug the washer and turn the washing machine around so you can access the back panel. Remove the rear panel by locating and loosening the screws around the perimeter of the panel.

2. Loop the drive belt on the drive motor pulley with the ribbed side on the pulley. Leave a one-groove gap between the belt and the end of the pulley.

3. Take both hands and pull straight up on the belt and place on the drum pulley beginning on the left hand side.

4. Hold the belt firmly in place and slowly turn the drum pulley to the right while holding the belt in place. The belt will eventually align and hold in place on the drum pulley.

NOTE: This may require some effort to get the belt in place.

If you have any questions, or are uncertain if these steps apply to your washer (some newer model Maytag front loaders are now manufactured by Whirlpool) please provide me with a model number and I can let you know if these steps apply. I hope this information is helpful.

When the machine goes to top speed it's banging x

There are three reasons for a spinning washing machine drum to knock:
  1. It is out of balance owing to an unevenly balanced clothing load, with possibly a belt buckle, button, or other hard object knocking from within the drum.
  2. A drum suspension support has worked itself loose and needs re-tightening
  3. A worn or partially split drive belt or possible crack in the pulley wheel

A solution to number 1. is simply to distribute the wash load evenly.

Solution no. 2. will require removal of the rear carcass cover to access the drum suspension connections. Sheet metal screws are the usual fasteners for this cover. First unplug the electrical supply. Get someone to roughly force the drum to move laterally side to side and up-down, from the front of the machine, while you look and listen from the rear, for signs of looseness at suspension joints. A perished rubber bushing may have partially disintegrated so look for signs of black rubber dust or debris. Another rare possibility may be excessive play in the bearings which support the drum. Excessive play in the bearings---if severe---may be felt again through very gentle lateral drum movement, but first proving no play exists in the suspension joints beforehand, otherwise confusion will result.

Solution No. 3. requires inspection of both drive belt and drum pulley wheel for any signs of wear or cracking. First have someone rotate the drum by hand from the front of the machine while you check out the belt and pulley---mind your fingers! If you still haven't located the source of the noise, try running the machine empty of water through its spin cycle while you observe from the rear. Keep your hands well clear of moving parts while doing so.

Yeah hello there , im trying fitt a belt two hotpoint washing machine wf100p , i havn't taken the back off putting the belt on the motor first the on two the drum wheel gradualy turning the wheel to put...

You are doing the right thing. Hook the belt onto the motor pulley, then onto the main pulley as far as it will go, use a few cable ties to hold it on the pulley and turn the drum anti clockwise, the cable ties will snap as the pulley turns. Hotpoint have made a tool for putting these belts on but you woudn't want to pay out just for one belt.Belt fitting Diagram link

The easyest way to fit these belts is to locate it on the motor pulley and as far onto the right hand side of the main pulley (viewed from the front of the machine) as possible. Hold it on the main pulley with a cable tie and rotate the drum anti clockwise by turning it from inside. The belt will be drawn onto the pulley and the cable tie will snap as it rotates. (Easy)

Front loading washing machine will not tumble or spin

This sounds like a drive belt porblem. The belt that connects the drum motor to the drum has slipped/broken/worn out. A new drive belt will most likey fix this one...

Alternately, a loose or broken pulley. I don't suspect a bad motor, since you say you can hear it clicking and whiring...

I think the brake squeaks on agitation cycle with FULL load.

The brake assembly is accessed from underneath the machine with the pulley removed and requires a special tool to compress the 150lb compression spring in order to remove the brake stator. This tool can be purchased from an appliance parts retailer.

Belt replacement on hotpoint wma63 washer

start by taking a bag tie and bag tie the belt to the drum pulley, hook the other end of the belt to the motor pulley, turn the drum from the top and the belt will be pulled on, once on, cut bag tie off and away you go. other wise hotpoint do supply a special tool that is along piece of hollow tube with a stopper on one end, that hooks onto the motor pulley.
The bag tie method does work, but be careful you don't your arms when you work from the top.
