Open Question

Hello, just bought HB Counter Top Oven with Rotisserie 31100 model. Temperature Knob will not turn. Suggestions?

We tried to see if we could remove the casing to see what is jammed but couldn't get casing off.

SOURCE: Hi, my GE glass top oven has a bridge burner that won't work.

the bridge burner is 99 percent chance that it is blown. turn the power off and take that burner out and see if you can see a break in the burner. then replace.

SOURCE: MAJIC CHEF DOUBLE OVEN NOT WORKING

I just had a model 976-4CX put in...I have no manual...I'm trying to find one. I thought I had a problem with the element, dial or thermostat. The bottom worked, but the top stopped working. There are 2 timers with dials next to the clock labeled Start and Stop, and Push for Manual. Come to find out my problem was solved by adjusting the Start and Stop dials and/or pushing in for manual!?!
If I had a manual I'd know how these timers worked.

SOURCE: can't remove bulb cover to install new light bulb. Tried turning counter clockwise - no luck.

Hi, If there are no metal fasteners on or around the bulb to holld it in, it will need to be twisted. Try and put a towel on the lens to help you get a better grip.
It sometimes take a great amount of force to turn the lens.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Hamilton Beach 31197 blower not working


There is no fuse. This is not an easy repair. I replaced mine which had an open winding. HB tried to make this unit so it could NOT be repaired, but of course it can be if you want to spend the time. The motor is part of a metal duct assy which also holds the rotisserie motor. It is RIVETED to the interior wall of the oven. The fan motor is a DUAL shaft C-Frame shaded pole 120 VAC ~ 3000 RPM ~ .5 amp motor which is not very common. The thermo on all these units is also inaccurate as the "sensor" is simply a metal plate screwed to the top right area of the oven interior. When I replaced my fan I also put in a new REAL oven thermo with a 12" sensing bulb which I mounted inside the oven as it should be. It took some searching to find these two parts. I have all the instructions and can post images if you want to tackle this. I did because the oven is large and the replacement model (31100 for $69 at Wal-Mart) has 1.5" less height and it uses the SAME parts with the same design flaw for the thermo. The retail cost on the parts for this job are ~$160, but I got mine for $15 total. I paid $48 for this oven years ago at Sams.

Hi,
Here is a test you can use to check the ignitors, Ignitor test. I also would like to you turn the thermostat knob slowly from the off position, When do you hear the click in the knob? You should hear it before the warm or lowest numbered setting on the knob. If you don't, replace the thermostat as it has failed. Need full model number to get you part.

Since a Rotisserie is an optional item for your model grill. I assume you have purchased one that is approved to be used on your model Brinkmann Grill Smoker. If not, I recommend that you Do Not use it. If it was approved, read and follow the directions that came with it regarding installation, setup and preparing to use the rotisserie.

The Rotisserie can only be used when you are not grilling anything else on the grill. Remove the grill grates directly in front of the rear infrared Rotisserie Burner. If you Don't, they will be in the way. In their place, you are going to use an aluminum pan (like a pie pan), as a drip pan for whatever you're cooking on the Rotisserie.Place that on top of the burner's flame tamers. Make sure the rotisserie motor is in place and you have electric power to it. Test the rotisserie spit, by inserting it into the motor's spit holder. If you have a Counter Balance, attach that near handle on the spit shaft just below the handle. If your rotisserie is missing the counter balance, you can not use the rotisserie.

Remove the rotisserie spit and place whatever you're planning to cook on it, following the directions that came with rotisserie kit. Make sure the spit forks are tightly embedded in the meat, whole chicken, etc. If a whole chicken, tie the legs together like a Thanksgiving Turkey around the spit..

Light the Rotisserie Burner and close the hood of the grill. Allow the temperature to reach a minimum of 250 degrees F, before opening the hood and installing the food loaded rotisserie spit.
Be careful, as the interior of the grill will be hot. Install the spit as you did earlier. Make sure it fits into both sides of the grill's hood correctly.

Turn the Rotisserie Motor ON and watch as the food turns. If it turns and then sort of bumps, when the spit turns around, adjust the counter balance to stop this. It should turn smoothly. Once all tha is completed, close the hood and allow the food to cook for whatever time, you would cook it in a kitchen oven. Rotisserie cooking is like smoking food. It's a low (temp) and slow (time) process. But, the flavor rewards are GREAT. Only check the food occasionally. The more you open the hood to peek, the longer it will take to cook. Each time you peek, add 10 minutes to the cooking time.

All of this, was sort of a thumbnail sketch of rotissering food. Search the web for recipes and techniques. You'll be amazed at what's out there.

Cannot control the temperature. Even when I put on the lowest heat setting the coils re bright red. What part do I need to fix it. The model is 31197S Series A2940BR

You have to take everything out your oven all the removables , then turn knob to pyrolyse and the other knob to 1 for mild cleaning 2 for medium and 3 for heavy cleaning

My Hamilton Beach Toaster Oven Model 31197s will not heat. It appears that the temperature control element is broken. Where can I get a replacement part.


I trashed the toaster oven. Apparently even if you know how to fix something you can't get the parts. If you need to take apart an appliance to fix it, you can rest assured you cannot get a replacement part. This is our throw away society.

Oven not heating properly


Hello. You have done an excellent job of explaining your problem. Read over the info. below as it sounds like your top element is not working.

  • When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out.

    You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results.

    If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component.

  • When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly.

    If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective.

    Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details.

    Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat.

    If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem.
