There are a few things thatcan cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move thewireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locatethe wireless router higher up.2. Have you secured yourwireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change thedefault password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID,and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC addressfiltering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s toconnect to your wireless router.3. You could be gettinginterference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers andcomputers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, betterstill connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted PowerSupply). 4. Check the channels ofthe wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcastchannel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currentlyused but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interferencewith your wireless router from other wireless routers and accesspoints in your area.

Wifi says connected but no internet

hello

To make sure that the ARCHOS can recognize the presence of the WiFi access point, go to Menu > Settings > Wireless controls > WiFi settings and then see what is listed under the section "Wi-Fi Networks". One or several WiFi access points should be listed.

If the access point you want to connect to is not listed, then it might be
• Because the router/modem is not switched on.
• Because the router/modem access point is set to not broadcast its identity (even though it is available for use). Ask the manager of the WiFi modem/router to temporarily enable the identity (SSID) broadcasting. To do so, one would have to go into the settings of the router/modem either by using the web browser or a special application program that came with the router/modem. Search for a setting that has a name something like "Hide SSID" and make sure it is off. Once this is done, the ARCHOS should recognize the access point and be able to connect to it. The ARCHOS just needs to connect once and it will "know" this access point - even when it is later "hidden". The WiFi router/modem can then be set back to "Hidden SSID". In general, hiding the SSID of your modem/router is ineffective as a security measure so you might as well just leave it on.

My laptop have broadcom 802.11 g adapter. but IBSS 54g(tm) mode have 802.11b/ 54g auto/54g performence only. so that, my laptop cannot access all access point. how can i solve this?

Greetings - Let's go over the settings in your router:
1) On the Home menu screen go to wireless in the left column 2) Wireless band should be setup as 802.11g 3) Mode should say access point 4) SSID should have a name - should also be the same name used on the laptop 5) SSID broadcast should be enabled 6) ***Important - For now set Authentication to open system. Make sure that is how your laptop WIFI card is setup. You can setup security after you get the two connected 7) Super G mode should be disabled 6) Move one tab on top over to advanced make sure data rate is auto
Try those settings (making sure the laptop settings match) and you should be able to get connected. If not, copy this text and return here and paste in into another request for help and someone will take you the rest of the way.
Good Luck, Mikeywaf

I have tried everything, and i can't get this router to connect wirelessly I do the step-by-step instructions, name my networks, set my passwords and everything. it says i completed the entire setup on...

During configuration, you must enable the router radio and SSID (Name) broadcast, so that the router would be visible to laptops and other wi-fi enable devices.

Select Wireless Settings under Advanced in the main menu of the WNDR3300 router.
Make sure the Enable Wireless Router Radio and Enable SSID Broadcast check boxes are selected.

Hope it helps!

I want to connect internet on my psp through a wireless access point but iam constantly recieving dns errors , what settings should be made on my psp and my access point? to solve the problem???

  1. Connect your router
  2. Open a brower window on your computer, preferably Internet explorer.
  3. Enter the IP address of the router (Ex: 192.168.1.1)
  4. Upon entering the IP address of the router in the browser it should direct you to your router box. If this does not happen then most likely your router box has been configured to a different IP address. To get this IP number run the set-up program.
  5. Now in the routher settings navigate within your router's settings dialog and locate "Wirless Settings"
  6. Check if you are assigned a SSID
  7. Check your region
  8. You should be on Channel 11. Sometimes the channel could different, in such situations make sure you are on the same channel.
  9. Check if "Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)" is enabled
  10. Check if "Enable Wireless access point" is enabled
  11. Set authentication as "Open system". You will find this option under "Security Encryption (WEP)"
  12. Set strength of encryption as "Disabled"
  13. Now click on "Wireless Card Access List". You may need to provide your password again.
  14. Make sure "Turn on Access control" option is turned off "Disabled"
  15. You should now see your PSP listed. No, you dont see then on your psp, go to "system settings" and then to "system information". You will see MAC address, now make a note of this MAC address.
  16. Now in "Wireless Card Access List" select "Add". If you are not able to do this then enter the PSP's MAC address and click "Finish/Apply" when done.
  17. In WAN settings, verify that "Connect Automatically as required" is enabled
  18. In "LAN TCP/IP Settings" make note of all of the information included. You may need this later. You may not, but it's a good idea to take note of it now.
  19. Under "Router Status" make note of all the relevant information included here as well. You may or may not need it.

I have a linksys wireless usb card and it is not detecting my secured wireless network after configuring it

We need to know the wireless settings on your wireless access-point/router.

Check if the SSID broadcast is enabled on the wireless access-point. If it is disabled, then you have to manually add the SSID to the wireless adapter and make sure the wireless security such as WEP or WPA keys are correct.

You may also enable SSID broadcast so that the wireless adapter will detect your wireless network.

Also, you may try to change the wireless channel to 6 or 11.

Need To Secue Network

hello!

there are so many way you can secure your wireless network.

CHANGE THE SSID AND CHANNEL

1: Open the router page 192.168.1.1 >> type this in the internet explorer address bar.
2: Click Wireless from the left menu
3: The settings to Wireless section of Router appear.Click Channel and SSID.
4: Change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) To identify your wireless network. To change the SSID, type in the SSID that you want to use in the SSID field and click Apply Changes.
5: Change the Wireless Channel to 1, 6 or 11. If there are other wireless networks operating in your area, your network should be set to operate on a channel that is different than the other wireless networks. Select channel from Wireless Channel drop-down menu. Click Apply Changes.

CHANGE THE WIRELESS MODE

Using the Wireless Mode Switch. This switch allows you to set the Router’s wireless modes. There are several modes. Note: Some modes may require firmware updates to be enabled. Select wireless mode from Wireless Mode drop-down menu. Click Apply Changes.

a) 802.11g only - this mode will allow only 802.11g-compliant devices to join the network, keeping out any slower 802.11b devices.

b) 802.11g & 802.11b - this mode will let 802.11g- and 802.11b-compliant devices to join the network.

c) 802.11n & 802.11g - this mode will allow N1/draft 802.11n- and 802.11g-compliant devices to join the network, keeping out any slower 802.11b devices.

d) 802.11n only - this mode will allow only N1/draft 802.11n-compliant devices to join the network, keeping out 802.11g and 802.11b devices.

e) Off - This mode will turn OFF the Router’s access point, so no wireless devices can join the network. Turning off the wireless function of your Router is a great way to secure your network when you are away from home for a long period of time, or don’t want to use the wireless feature of the Router at a certain time.

DISABLE SSID BROADCAST

This advanced feature will not broadcast your network’s SSID. Doing so will keep your network name hidden from computers that are scanning for the presence of wireless networks. To turn off the broadcast of the SSID, remove the check mark from the box next to Broadcast SSID, and then click Apply Changes.

ENABLE WIRELESS SECURITY
To access the security settings, click Security.

Setting WPA Security

Note: To use WPA security, your wireless network cards must be equipped with software that supports WPA. WPA-PSK uses what is known as a pre-shared key as the security key. A pre-shared key is basically a password that is between eight and 39 characters long. It can be a combination of letters, numbers, or characters.

a) From the Security Mode drop-down menu, select WPA-PSK (no server).
b) For Encryption Technique, select TKIP or AES. This setting will have to be identical on the clients that you set up.
c) Enter your pre-shared key. This can be from eight to 39 characters and can be letters, numbers, or symbols. This same key must be used on all of the clients that you set up.
d) Click Apply Changes to finish. You must now set all clients to match these settings.

ENABLE WIRELESS MAC ADDRESS FILTERING

The MAC address filter is a powerful security feature that allows you to specify which computers are allowed on the wireless network. This list applies only to wireless computers. This list can be configured so any computer attempting to access the wireless network that is not specified in the filter list will be denied access. When you enable this feature, you must enter the MAC address of each client (computer) to which you want to allow network access. The Block feature lets you turn on and off access to the network easily for any computer without having to add and remove the computer’s MAC address from the list.

Setting up an Allow Access List

1. Click MAC Access Control.

2. Select the Allow radio button to begin setting up a list of computers allowed to connect to the wireless network.

3. Next, in the MAC Address field that is blank, type in the MAC address of the wireless computer you want to be able to access the wireless network, then click Add.

4. Continue to do this until all of the computers you want to add have been entered.
