SOURCE: My LDHD-UP2 has just started

First keep in mind that it is a USB 2.0 and maybe the computer do not have the capability or the drivers installed for 2.0 ..
if this is not the cause ..than try to go to device manager by right click on My computer ..than properties.../hardware ..device manager ...In here right click on computer ..or **** drives.. and than scan for hardware changes...if the device is functional this should start the add new hardware wizard when it seen it ..
If it do not seen it at all ..there must be something wrong with the way the computer recognize the devise..but at least should seen it as unknown usb device ..otherwise is something wrong with the cable cause I understood that it is powered up well...

SOURCE: Hi. The computer doesnt recognize the usb, and on

Connect your computer to its AC power-adapter, to provide more power to your computer, and thus to activate the USB ports. You may need to restart, to enable the USB port(s).

Yes you can safely use the hard drive in any position as long as it is in a stable position. Just ensure that it does not get any shock or vibration as that might damage your hard drive's motor. The stand is just an accessory to save space on your desk. Hope that clarifies.

SOURCE: My vaio laptop with windows XP will not "see" an

Hi mpetersen809,

When you connect your external hard drive, does Windows chime or show an "installing devices" pop-up in the lower right corner of your screen? If this occurs, but you can't see the drive under "My Computer," your external drive might be trying to use a drive letter that's already in use by another device. To resolve this issue, you can manually set the drive letter for your external drive:

  1. Right-click My Computer and choose "Manage." A "Computer Management" window will appear.
  2. In the right pane, under "Storage," click "Disk Management."
  3. Locate your external drive at the bottom of the right pane. Disk 0 is your laptop's internal hard drive, so your external drive will probably be named "Disk 1" or "Disk 2."
  4. Right-click the area of the drive that says "Healthy (Primary Partition)" and select "Change drive letter and paths."
  5. Click the "Change" button, then select an unused drive letter (like Y or Q) from the drop-down menu and click "OK."
  6. Click "Yes" to confirm that you want to change the drive letter.
  7. Close the Computer Management window, then open My Computer to see whether your external drive is visible.
If this doesn't work, there could be a problem with the external drive. Test the drive by plugging it into another computer. If the drive isn't recognized on the second computer, contact Iomega for warranty support or replace the drive.

Good luck!

My iomega LDHD-UP light flashes when i turn it on but my comuter does not reconize it at all.

click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,
check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems also make sure the computers Ram and Cmos battery are securely seated
hope this helps

I need a replacement adapter for my iomega 1TB desk top hard drive. The original has been mislaid therefore I have no reference to match. The sticker on the unit says "use only with iomega...

The power adapter should be AC 120/230V and are you sure its LDHD and not LPHD? either way I would recommend going on ebay and typing "iomega ac adapter" in the search bar and take it from there, see if you can find one or e-mail a few sellers and see if they have one for your model, hope this helps!
