Get a faster internet connection or view it at a lower bit rate
download and watch at a later time when the whole file or enough has been downloaded to allow viewing without the buffer ring appearing before the end

Stop buffering/flickering when watching a video

Unless the device you are watching the video on is from the stone age, most equipment today is more than capable of streaming video. That said, the most common causes of video buffering/flickering are:

  1. Slow internet connection speed. DIal-up, DSL, and most of the lowest tier cable speed rates often cannot handle video streaming.
  2. Time of day. Watching video streams from places like Youtube during peak internet hours in your area will often cause buffering issues due to high demand on ISP bandwidth.
  3. Too many apps running/not enough memory available for the viewer app.

How to stop buffering

  • 1 Allow the movie to load completely, or at least halfway, before you start to watch it to stop video buffering.
  • 2 Start the movie and then hit stop until the movie has fully or halfway loaded. As the movie is loading, you should see a yellow or gray line. The line you see will get longer as it loads.
  • 3 Close all windows that you don't need. Having too many windows open will slow the loading process.
  • 4 Resume play once the movie is at least halfway loaded or fully loaded. By this time, you should be able to enjoy the movie without the video buffering or constant starting and stopping.

I have an Acer 5542 laptop. Whenever I watch live streaming video, or YouTube, the video stops every few seconds for buffering to catch up. This is a fast Windows 7 computer with plenty of ram, clean...

The answer to this issue is your cpu, its a turion amd, basically it doesnt have the raw processing power required to render streams. there is no solution to this, other than replacing the laptop. AMD Turion II Ultra mobile processor M600 / 2.4 GHz just doesnt cut it, its not always about the clock speed, but how the unit processes data.
