The gas flow at the pilot is at the limit so the smallest drop in pressure is enough to extinguish it. Check and clean the jet and the burner for the pilot.

When the wind blows the pilot light out, I have great difficulty in pressing the buttons in to relight it.

You are getting negative pressure in the burner ... this can be caused by the access panel not being reinstalled properly after you relight the pilot. Vents can cause a "venturi effect" and if the access door is not on tight it will indeed become a real pain

The pilot light won't stay lit.

all the solutions quoted have nothing to do with my problem.
if any of them applied, it wouldn't be a problem with 2 new heaters, as well as the 3 year old heater.
the flame of the pilot jumps away from the orifice after varying periods of time.

I have a old in the floor heating unit. The pilot won't stay lit. replaced thermocouple 2x already. It stays lit all summer and once it gets cold it shuts off. Any help would be great. Cathy

relight and watch flame during cycle if it is going out once the fan starts you may have a cracked heat exchanger!!!!!!!!
When fan comes on it blows out the flame. This is a potentially life threating condition; have a pro take a look. It could be something simple but don't risk it!!!!!!
