Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

SOURCE: i need to know exactly what voltage of power

Dear,

Power Supply 100–240VAC, 50–60Hz
Power Consumption 232W max.
Its mean its a switching supply that can support as low as 100 and more as 240VAC
If there is a problem with supply and you want to attach a fix one then Check the MAINS at your area. If it is 110VAC then get it and if its 220VAC then use the supply for this kind of support

good luck..........

Why wont my tv turn on

That problem is usually have 2 causes..Its either power supply board or main board..

Please take this steps on how to determine the problem:
1. Open the back cover.
2. Check the power supply output...It should have 5vdc for the main board..12vdc or 16vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the back-light inverter..
3. If those 3 voltage supplies have encountered voltage drop...The problem could be on power supply board..
4. If the power supply output is normal..The problem could be on the main board...
5. If the problem is power supply you should check if the capacitors are bulged on the top and try to replaced it..If you can't do that you can purchased new power supply board..
6. If the problem is on main board there is no D.I.Y repair on that so you need to buy a new main board that fits to your TV..
Hope this solution will be helpful..

Thanks for using fixya...

My tv when i turn it on it shuts right back off, and the red led blinks please help.

That symptom of your television is commonly happen to the LCD TV. The problem is the power supply of your television. The power supply have abnormal voltage output, cause of leak capacitor. The leak capacitor can cause of voltage drop, because it can filter the voltage. The leak capacitor can identify through visual checking if don't know how to use the capacitor tester . The leak capacitor have rounded shape at the top compare to flated top shape of good capacitor. It also have moise with liquid sometimes. So if you want to fix or repair the problem, try to open the cover of your TV and pull out the power supply.Remove the cover of the power supply and you can see the leak capacitor. Use soldering iron, soldering pump and soldering lead.Avoid short circuit in the PCB of power supply.Try the procedure.Hope it will help you..Thanks.

A pleasant and good day!

The problem could be the power supply.
That problem is usually happen when the output voltage of the power supply got a voltage drop or fluctuation.

This is the procedure on how to fix that problem:
  1. Remove the back cover of your TV.
  2. Plug-in the power cord of your TV and power it ON to perform a voltage data or voltage check.
  3. Test the output voltage of the power supply.Use a multimeter (DC range) then check the 5vdc for the system and logic supply.
  4. If the 5vdc got a voltage drop when you power ON the TV.There's a leak or bulge on top capacitor on your power supply unit, replace it!

Having trouble turning my Tv on,have to turn it on and off/plug and unplug for a while to get pic and sound. Can you help?

Good day!

The problem of your TV could be the power supply.

Please follow this steps on how to fix that problem
:

  1. Remove the back cover of your TV.
  2. Try to look at the power supply board (it usually directly connected to the power cord)
  3. Plug-in your TV and power it ON to perform a voltage data.
  4. Check the input voltage of the power supply. It should have 110vac or 220vac it depends the input voltage of your TV that comes on the outlet.Use multimeter tester (range in AC)
  5. If the input voltage of the power supply doesn't have a reading, the power cord is defective you need to replace it.
  6. If the input of the power supply have 110vac or 220vac.Please check the output voltage of the power supply using your multimeter tester (range in DC).Normally it should have 5vdc for the system board,12vdc for the audio system and 24vdc for the inverter board (back-light).Also look for the leak/bulged on the top capacitor. If any replace it with the same type, ratings and value.
  7. If the you have done all procedures above and you have found any defects and the output voltage are complete. The problem could be the the system board or main board of your TV.This is not for D.I.Y because the parts are surface mount and its very sensitive. If the problem is main board you have to replaced it,buy a new main board its available at the market.
  8. When the output voltage of the power supply doesn't have reading, please check the following
  • Fuse---look if it is busted
  • Power transistor----If it is shorted (range in diode test)
  • Resistor----If it is open or change value (range in ohms)
If you found any defective parts replaced it with the same type, ratings and value.

I hope this solution will be helpful.Thank you and good luck.

I need a replacement AC power adapter for FPE1080 TV

Hi, i have personally substituted laptop power supplies for those kind of televisions-make sure the power supply you get is of similar power rating, it should tell you the needed D.C. voltage and M.A. requirements maybe near the power jack-or somewhere on the label. Used power supplies are common at televised thrift stores. Just make sure polarity matches on power supply and tv-careful not to try and force jack into tv-it should slide right in. the voltage is usually 18 to 24 volts with an amperage of 2.5 to 4 amps, or 4000ma or something to that effect, hope this was helpful, Prodzilla

Not sure if this will help, but most caps fail with the in rush of power, over and over. Sounds like they were not made right. You might try a UPS ( uninterrupted Power Supply) this may help you with dirty power from your power company. And with high spikes. Make sure you get one that will handle the TV current draw. As far as upping the CAPs keep the same or slightly high voltage and increase in uf. You might find one that has the same uf and a higher voltage rating that will handle it.

hello. The problem you are having has haunted Gateway ever since they went into the television business. Here is a link to an article about the issue. http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20051214/0211209.shtml

Getting back to your set, I would definitely not put one penny into a repair. Instead, cut your losses and upgrade to digital, right now the prices are shockingly low. good luck with it.

It is a power supply fault. The power supply is a switched mode power supply and supplies 5 volts for the difital logic and high voltages for the high voltage parts of the tv relating to the screen display components. When the high voltage part of the circuit breaks or goes short circuit then the power supply shuts that part down leaving the low voltage rail of 5 volts..hence the standby still working. So... you need to be looking at the power supply board where the mains goes in but be aware of the mains voltages in this area if you arent experienced in electrics. The board will still hold 240v if the power supply has an open circuit load
