If the heating element comes on, and its electric, it could need to be calibrated.or the temp probe may need to be replaced. if its gas, we may have a gas valve problem. more info would help

I would look for a Hi-Limit thermostat for the elements, usually located on the back wall of the oven, this would prevent the elements from coming on. But, you will need to remove the oven to access this part causing you this problem.
