Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

There's a slight burning smell coming from the dryer drum.

Some item may have gotten between the drum that rotates and the housing and during the rolling of the drum this item may be heating up from the friction. Check closely to see if you can find anything rubbing on the drum.

I can smell burning oil smell inside my car sometimes when i turn the heat on.and the engine light also came on couple of days after. i jus changed the oil and filters 3 weeks ago. can someone please

depending on the type of car, you might have oil leaking directly onto the exhaust system, which is dangerous as it could possibly ignite. I would take it back to the oil change place and have them double check the oil filter to make sure the seal isn't leaking. AutoZone or Advance Auto can hook a mini scan tool to the car and tell you why the light is on.

Overheating/burnt rubber smell

classical sign of a bad motor. the motor has a thermal switch on it telling the unit to shut off when it gets hot. after it cools down, the switch will tell the motor to turn back on again. good luck, i'm pretty sure that's your problem. contact me for further help if needed. thanks :)

Dryer shutting off too early. Faint smell of something burning?

Check the vent for clogging condition that will turn off unit and cause it to overheat. If vent goes up to roof check up there also - that is where mine was clogged with a sort of paper mache clog!!!!!

Sounds as if the door switch/latch had stuck.the smell was probably a small short. try unplugging unit. But I would imagine you need door latch/switch replaced

Kenmore 80 series quit heating after burning smell..

Any kind of lint or cobwebs on the element would cause a hot spot and fry the element or pop the limit that is mounted on top of the chamber. What your hubby soulda done is take the machine down and vacuum it out after sitting up so long. The fuse is not blown because it still runs so it must be the small guy pictured. It mount up top of the heat element chamber.ff8b5e7.jpg

Strong ozone-like burning smell

Sounds to me like the motherboard inside the unit is on it's way to thermal overload. This is a common problem with this particular model. You'll smell electronics burning and one day it'll quit altogether with a burst of smoke. I had this happen to me and I traced the problem back to a faulty triac (transistor-like device) that overheated and caused the circuit board and wiring harness to burn up from excessive current draw. I repaired my motherboard with a new triac ($6) and rewired the harnesses. A cooling fan on the heatsink of the board would solve this problem.
