Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

I have a Craftsman 1/2hp garage door opener, model 139.53975SRT1. Unit has two remotes, wall panel in the garage and a wireless keypad outside. The wireless keypad will close the door but will not open it. The wall button, both remotes and Homelink system in my wifes car work just fine. What is the problem?

First of all check the battery in the keypad. If that doesn't do it your keypad is going bad and needs to be replaced.

While trying to reset the outside panel the remotes wont work and the door wont go down or up with the wall unit or remote. I have tried reset but its doesent work. What else can I do?

Make sure the opener is still plugged into the outlet and that the breaker hasn't popped. If you held the smart/learn button in for 6 seconds it would erase the memory and the remotes would not work but the wall button should. Sounds like no power to the opener.

Craftsman 1/2 hp opener won't open using the outdoor keypad. It will close when using the outdoor keypad but not open. Wall unit closes and opens it. changed battery in keypad, no difference

If your hand remotes work okay then the keypad has lost signal strength and needs to be replaced. If your hand remotes act the same way then your logic board is bad.

Wall unit of garage door opener keeps flashing green. I believe it may be in the lock mode. Cannot open door from there, but outside keypad works.

IF THE KEYPAD AND REMOTES WORK IT IS NOT IN LOCK MODE.

DO YOU HAVE THE POLARITY BACKWARDS???

IS IT FLASHING A FAULT CODE???

Lights on overhead unit on garage door opener will not go off

This is not too uncommon. What tripped the breaker in your house also got to one of the relays on the logic board of your opener. The only cure I know of is a new logic board.

Have you replaced the battery in your keypad? That should take care of the trick.
