Panasonic RX-DT610 - Are Batteries required to complete the circuit?

I removed all of the batteries from my old boombox (a couple were corroded), and now I can't seem to tune in a channel - does this need batteries to complete the circuit (I seem to have power), but can't change the band from tuner to cd or cassette.

Hi,
If you look inside the battery compartment or on the spec label (usually on the back) it should have a diagram or tell you. Usually it's 4x C size/type batteries.

IT WILL NOT POWER UP

Will the unit run on batteries, if so! the ac power going into the power supply is the problem. The fuse or the power transformer are most likely the issues. Now if the batteries or ac power do not power the radio then we probably are looking at processor ic problem. The cost to repair should be questioned.

I get a "Battery Error" message in the display screen after putting new batteries in the stereo. The manual says check to be sure the batteries are installed correctly, which I have, but I still have the...

Does message disappear when plugged into ac outlet? If it does your batteries are not making a good connection or they are weak. Sometimes old batteries leak and cause contact springs to get corroded, in turn causing bad connection. Clean contact areas with a knife or light sandpaper. That should get you going.

Panasonic rx-dt610 the speaker port at the back

A port is only an opening into the speaker enclosure. If "it is not working" it is obstructed, something blocking it.
