HP5610 All-In-One will not turn on

I have the Officejet 5600 all-in-one series. I shut off the power yesterday, 7-14-09 to try and "reset" a scan issue. NOw I can't get the power back on. There is power going to the all-in-one, but the ON button doesn't turn the printer on. It doesn't light up, I’ve tried numerous key combo’s OK, SETUP etc., nothing works. Tried the #3, #6, and #9. There is a black bar/boxes across the face of the all-in-one. Uninstalled and reinstalled software. I have XP. It's like the keypad isn't registering. I've unplugged and plugged everything back in. I don't think the computer knows it's there although the All-In-One is marked as the default printer. Can't make sense of it. I don’t have a PowerSave button on this printer.

Here is the problem...I can't power on. I plug the printer in, the black bars appear, but I cannot power on. I tried what you said anyway. I did alittle of that troubleshooting early on. I think I'll do alittle more playing with the idea though. Thank you so much. I think I just have to bite the bullet and pay the money to have the problem diagnosed

Sounds funny....try to open and remove the cartridges, and then power on.... the black bars usually indicate some kind of electrical problem, and it is usually the carts...open the printer, remove the carts, ( you may have to gently slide the carousel over for access ) and close power down, and remove the power. Then reverse...let me know if this helps...

HP 5610-Keep Getting: "Cartridge Error"

  1. My HP5610 was acting up with the error in cartridge thiny.
I held down the # and the 3 and reset the unit and it is back
    in business.
  2. Is there any other error messages? Like carriage jam or something? If there are no other error then try to do a partial reset on your printer, to do that follow these steps:

Turn your printer on, remove the power cable at the back of your printer while the printer is ON. PRESS AND HOLD the # key and 3 key on the keypad, plug back the power cable WITHOUT releasing those buttons, DO NOT RELEASE THE BUTTONS until you can see the WELCOME SCREEN or INPROPER SHUT DOWN PRESS OK TO CONTINUE.
  3. But before throwing away the (supposed broken) HP5610 I made the last attempt: I gave it the power with the new power supply and...surprise, the printer worked perfectly!!

When press # and 9 key while turning power on, the hp5610 should perform a full reset, however the "power on", "fax", "copy", "fax", "scan" and "!" all flash at the same time. How do I correct?

You can't. A reset is a #6. A #9 resets the NVM - the NVM is the firmware that makes the printer function. If you have reset the NVM there is no way to bring it back again unfortunately. It should only be used by HP in their repair department when they are seeking to replace the firmware components.

Have Lexmark 5600 series all-in-one. Can't get it to enlarg pictures by copy or scan. Help . Tried everything in the productive suite.

In regards to Lexmark 5600 series all-in-one printer not being able to enlarge photos. I had been trying to use computer programs from the installation disk. Forget that and simply use controls on printer itself. Just use the copy button and set paper size. That easy. Thanks for your help.

Product Not Working - HP5610 ALL IN ONE

Hi,

I would like you to try other way of resetting your printer.

PERFORMING SEMI-FULL RESET

  1. Ensure that you have a two contact phone cable connected to line 1 socket of the printer and that the other end of the cable is connected to the phone jack in the wall.
  2. Perform a partial reset on the printer. To do this first remove the power supply from the back of the printer. With the power off press and hold the # and 3 keys.
  3. Plug the power back into the printer, keep holding the # and 6 keys till you see “ SEMI-FULL Reset ” displayed on the printer screen. Sometimes, the printer will just turn off, if it happen just released the two buttons then press the power ON button to turn the printer ON.
  4. After turning it ON, you will see the message "NVM SEMI-FULL" reset.
  5. If this does not resolve the issue contact HP at 1-800-474-6836

THank you so much.

Printing

hi,

here are the things that i want you to follow to somehow resolve your issue.

1. On your computer, click on start then go to control panel
2. inside control panel open the PRINTERS and FAXES (XP) or PRINTER (VISTA).
3. make sure change the default printer icon to the HP Officejet 5600 series.
- right click HP Officejet 5600 series and choose "set as default printer"
4. then try printing,

note: the reason why you encounter that problem is because the default printer icon is the "HP officejet 5600 series fax".

best regards
