the test page will print - over about 5 minutes or more. I removed and reinstalled the printer driver. Not sure what to do now.

I think I said it took 5 min to print a page - it's more like a half hour - way too long to have to wait for a printer. HELP!!

I just went thru a similar issue. Printer would take forever to print, printed 1 line in about 1 minute. I never use color and only print in B/W. Well from advise from a friend, I replaced my color cartrigde and prints normal now. It seems you can not print even in B/W if you dont have a color cartridge with ink in it.

This is more than likely a problem with the computer rather than the printer....don't know the specific combination for this model, but try to hold one of the keys besides the power button to print a test page...usually 3 seconds....I will research more...if not try to remove and reinstall the printer on the computer...

The deskjet 5650 has a flashing yellow downward arrow. What dies this mean?

Did you or one of your users have a paper jam recently and force the jam out of the printer? Because we've had a few 5650's do this after a jam. About 66% of the time this fixed it...Removing the ink, unplugging the printer, moving the print head to the half way point, and starting the printer.

To print in black and white you will need to go into your printers properties and look for a Printer Preference and change it.

HP Deskjet 5650 is printing off-center. The printing field is shifted to the right, so the right margin is non-existent and I lose a bit of the printing. How can I fix it?

I think the horizontal printing starting point can be adjusted by holding down buttons (??) when powering up. Right now my left margin is 3/8 inch too big -- photos have that much white space on left margin with borderless printing. I am trying to figure out the key combination.

Hp deskjet 5650 printer is printing A test page after every print job I do. I've tried system shutdowns restarts and turning the printer on and off.

It might be prinitng the alignment sheet because you might have replaced the cartridges receently. So pleae scan that sheet once to complete the alignment and I believe it will fix the issue.

HP DESKJET 5650

well..assuming that the text is the same on all, this might be a settings issue, with the print spooler. That's in the set up of the printer, under properties..look into that, and perhaps you'll want to spool the whole job, instead of printing immediately?

print spooler memory is finite, so the longer jobs will take longer.

Mechanism Error - Print Cradle won't move! - HP 5650

This "plastic strip" is called the "carriage encoder strip". This strip dictates the timing of the carriage assembly. If the end slots aren't broken, you can re-attach it. Otherwise, you'll need to replace it. They are about $10.
