Question about Dryers

Can't remove the back of Kenmore Model 417 gas dryer.

I have removed all visible screws and am wondering if two brackets at top are hinges or clips that need to be pryed off.

The brackets you see are indeed hinges. Go to the front panel of the dryer and slip a putty knife into the crack above the dryer door. You will find two release brackets about 3 inches in from each side.
Push in on the brackets to release the top panel and it will swing open on the hinges so that you can get at the inside of the machine.

The back of this dryer does not come off. The top swings up instead. You must use a flat blade screwdriver or putty knife in the crack on the front of the dryer to release to spring loaded clips about three inches in from each outside edge. Push in on the clips to release them and the top will swing up on the hinges so that you can get at the insides.

How do I remove the face plate of the dryer

what make amd model dryer? as a general rule first UNPLUG the dryer, if it is gas turn off the gas supply then you have to remove the dryer door first for front loaders. Once that door is off look for any additional screw that were hidden, there may or may not be any. Then look for any brackets that may be attached to the top panel of the dryer. If it is a top loader skip that, then you pry the top of the dryer up they are usually held down by clips. Then grab/pry the front of the dryer off. Those panels are held on by clips also but take a look for any brackets that might have screws in them. It should all be visible.

The bar things inside the dryer drum (there are three of them) one has come almost all the way off. and one is loose. looks like its screwed from the other side.. cant figure out how to get inside. it...

Unplug the dryer. Open the door and remove a total of 4 screws, 2 on each side of the door opening. Two screws each hold a clip in place and the other two hold the dorr hinges. When you remove the screws on the door hinge, it shouldn't fall off, but be prepared for it to do just that. The door should come off by lifting the hinges upward and pulling the door away. The remaining part of the front panel is held on by 2 clips located toward the top sides of the u-shaped front panel. Pull the panel forward to release the clips and lift the panel upward to clear the two tabs and slots on the bottom. On each side of the cabinet, there is a blackish colored metal bracket that holds the top in place. Remove the fasteners that holds these brackets and remove the brackets by sliding them upward and away. The top should now lift up. You now have access to the fasteners that hold the baffles onto the drum. If , for some reason, you should want to remove the baffles, carefully note the different sizes of the baffles and what order they came off.

Here is the parts list for the drum of your dryer:

I opened up the top of the dryer and there were no coins. I believe that it is the screws that hold the, I call the beaters, that are inside the dryer drum. The screws are between the wall of the drum. ...

unplug Dryer, open door, Remove two door hinge screws going into front panel, remove two screws on opposite side. Grab front panel on upper sides and twist and pull front panel out. Panel sits on two clips at bottom so you have to tip panel out to unhook from the bottom. You will see a metal hook with two screws in it that holds down the top of the dryer on each side. Remove the screws and hook bracket. Make sure you note how it reinstalls. Top will now lift up and lean back against a wall. It is hinged in back. You can now easily get to the drum baffle screws.

How do I remove the front of my LG gas dryer to remove a debit card that fell down the lint trap? After the card fell down there the dryer now is making a terrible sound.

Hi,

I believe I can help. FIRST**unplug the unit from the wall**

At the front of the dryer where the front panel and top meet you`ll see a seam. If you use a puddy knife or a very narrow flat screwdriver, there are clips on either side of that seam. You must push in on these clips (one at a time) with a steady pressure forward while lifting on the top until the top will release on that side. Now repeat on the other side. Once released the top is resting on hinges at the back and will flip up and out of the way.Be careful going forward from here, these metal edges are sharp.

If you are a few inches from the wall you should be able to lean the top back against it.

With the top now released and out of your way, open the door to the unit. There you must remove 2 screws by the lint screen duct. Once that is done, remove the 2 screws at the top of the front panel next to the clips which held the top secure. Before removing the front panel now, unplug the wires for the light and the door switch. Once they are not connected you should be free to move the front panel to the side as it only sits in 2 hinges/brackets on the bottom of the cabinet. Now you`ll see the front inner drum support structure. This is held in place by 4 screws, 2 on either side, but it is also held by notches on the cabinet. Once the screws are removed, (there may also be 1 screw down by the blower wheel housing...it is part of the vent ducting, but comes off with the front support) lift the support up and towards you and it will come off.

Now you should have access to the blower and whatever you lost in the vent duct area.

Hope that helps, Good Luck

Removing the back from a kenmore 90 series dryer

If your model looks like it has two hinge brackets at the top of the back panel, you don't remove the back, you lift the top instead. Try running a thin blade screwdiver or puttyknife along the top crack above the door on the front of the dryer. You should encounter a release pin about three inches in from each edge. Push the pins in to release the top panel and it should swing up on the hinges. Now you can access the internals.

and yes, for that model the top is removed, clips go on the rear and screwed at the front.
in some areas it is sold seperatly as a stacking kit

OPEN THE DOOR AND REMOVE THE TWO SCREWS IN THE MIDDLE OF EACH HINGE. LOOK AT THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE OPENING AND REMOVE TWO SCREWS FROM THAT SIDE ALSO. PULL FRONT TOWARD YOU FROM THE TOP. IT IS HINGED AT THE BOTTOM. ONCE THE TOP IS FREE, LIFT THE FRONT OFF THE HINGES. THERE IS A CLIP HOLDING THE TOP TO THE CABINET AT THE FRONT CORNERS. REMOVE THE SCREWS HOLDING THE CLIPS IN PLACE AND SWING THE CLIPS TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT TO REMOVE THEM. THE TOP SHOULD SWING UP AND TO THE BACK AT THIS TIME. IT IS HINGED AT THE BACK.
