Open Question

I have a 350 xmt which is holding power. It is clean on the inside, all cords are connected, and it is not giving any codes. The welder is not putting out any amps. Any ideas on the problem?

SOURCE: watt size fuse do i use to connect a 350 watt

You use the same amp fuse as on your amp, nothing larger. The fuse just keeps the wire from overheating/shorting and causing a fire.. IF you amp has a 30 amp fuse then you use a 30amp fuse off the battery

SOURCE: lincoln mig welder 180, 230 volt 20 Amp Input.

Inspector is correct! In wall or conduit wiring awg will always be greater than "open air" wiring. IE: the size of wire coming from your pole ... it's smaller than from your service riser into your meter. Code allows the cord to heat up... open air will cool it down.

I have a HEL p-6 code on a xmt 304 how do I fix it

Sounds like a input power problem . Make sure voltage is correct coming to the unit and wired correctly. I checked a Miller welder recently ,auto link that would come on and weld but not good . Took cover off and it was wired wrong .

Install a power cord

Depends on what kind of welder we are talking about. Different welders have different power plugs and there are also different prong outlets. Explain your situation.

I have a miller xmt 304 i bought it used. i have a 12vs wire feeder on it and im not getting power to it. any suggestions on what the problem could be

Hi:

Ok, let troubleshoot this one.

There is only two connectors on your 12VS wire feeder; the lead cable that goes to the + side of the XMT welding machine and the VS cable (Volt Sensing) that goes to you work piece joining the ground cable (don't forget the ground clamp).

a) The mode switch on your XMT must be on V-sense feeder.
b) Your 12VS feeder depending on what kind of wire you are using (innershield) negative side or gas wire + side.
That's it. If there i no spark, there is something wrong with your XMT.

If this was useful to you please vote. Thanks.

Welder doesnt turn on...

Have you connected the feed from your breaker box to ADJACENT lugs on a dual pole breaker? By code you must use a ganged breaker.

You should use a voltmeter to verify the plug is getting power on teh desired pins.

Millermatic 200 will not weld

1 - Check the ground connection to the work, including the actual cable to clamp connection.

2 - Make sure that the wire feed rollers are nice and clean. The wire needs to be clean too.

3 - Check that the polarity changing wire connections are nice and tight, clean, etc.

4 - change and or service the contact tip at the end of the gun.

as always, gently clean out the loose junk inside the case. A clean welder is a happy welder. :-)
