Brother sewing machine feed dogs not coming back up?

Difficult to say--you didn't provide the model. It could still be covered under warranty depending on when it was purchased. If not, service could run $50 possibly to ~$125 plus any parts(?) required.

You can also try contacting Brother support.

Also, have you tried stitching with it? On a lot of machines, the feed dogs don't come up until the machine starts sewing again.

Just received my machine and the fabric will not feed through.

It is likely that your feed dogs have been dropped. Try following the instructions listed in the attached link. It is also possible that something got jostled in shipping, and may need adjusting. If you can locate the feed dog drop mechanism and it is engaged, you may need to take your machine back to where you purchased it and have it replaced or adjusted.

How do I lower the feed dog on a Brother LX3125?

Look on the back of the machine near the feed dogs for a lever to lower them.
If there is none then you need a feed dog cover (or darning plate) that goes over the needle plate.
good luck!

Brother XL 5130. I just got this machine and the feed dogs seem to be in the 'down' position, although I can't find a lever anywhere to move them up. In some of the forum, it suggests that

Look up "darning" and it shows a feed dog cover so that means this machine does not have dropping feed dogs.

Now that that is out of the way... most machines have the ability to adjust the height of the feed dogs. But without seeing your machine I can't advise you. It might be better to go have the machine adjusted and serviced.

My SE400 keep bending or breaking needles while trying to embroidery.

Machine breaks needles
1.make sure you are using the right needle for your type of sewing machine.
Most machines can use generic Schmetz needles. There are cases where the machine will only use ones specified in the owners manual.
2.the presser foot may not be installed properly
3.use the correct needle for the type of fabric you are working with. To fine of needle on heavy fabric or to course a needle on silk or jersey can damage fabric.
4.let the feed dogs guide the fabric & the feed dogs will work with the presser foot .
5.the needle is not all the way in -push all the way up against the stop

I have a brother XL 5130 should I have either a plate or lever to drop the feed dogs? I also misplaced my manual can you send me the English ssection thanks Barbara

This machine does not have a feed dog drop, but it does include a feed dog cover that covers them so you can do free motion. The cover is a little piece of black plastic that kind of resembles this: 3d18346.png

Here is the link to the manual,

My feed dogs will not come up into position

Some machines have to take a stitch for the mechanism to "pop" back into place, I don't really know if your brother is like that but try to sew with it and see if they click back into place.

Feed dogs stuck in down position

that the feed dog lever is in the up position. When the lever is in the down position, the feed dogs will show on the top if there is no pressure on them at all. Make sure that the machine makes one complete cycle to check this. Just throwing the switch does not make them come to the surface.

If this does not work, then the feed gear is broken and you will need to take it to a mechanic.
