Camera won't stay on with new batteries

Always charge NiMH batteries before using them for the first time, or if they have not been used for a long period.
Always charge sets of batteries (2 or 4) together.
Do not use alkaline batteries unless it is absolutely necessary. In some cases, alkaline batteries may have a shorter service life than NiMH. Alkaline battery performance is limited, especially at low temperatures. The use of NiMH batteries is recommended.
AA manganese (Zinc-Carbon) should not be used. hey have limited power and can leak in a short time, destroying a camera.

Battery won't charge on my HP photosmart M407. Batteries are new. What else might be wrong?

It could be something wrong with the power board. If you have an external charger to charge the batteries. After fully charged tried to take as many pictures as you can. If the battery discharge fast, that mean something is wrong with the power board.

The on off button is stuck in. is there anything you can do or do i just buy a new one.

Reset the camera
  1. Turn off the camera, if possible.
  2. If an SD memory card is installed, remove the card.
  3. Remove power from the camera as described below:
    • If you are using only batteries for power, open the battery/memory card door and remove both batteries.
    • If you are using only the HP AC power adapter, disconnect it from the camera.
    • If you are using both batteries and the HP AC power adapter, remove both batteries and the power adapter.
  4. Wait for 15 seconds. Then reinsert the batteries and close the battery/memory card door or reconnect the HP AC power adapter to the camera. If you are using both batteries and AC power, try each method separately.
Turn the camera on and off. If the issues is not resolved do the following

Connect the camera to the optional AC power supply
  1. Connect the camera to the optional AC power supply. Ensure that the AC power supply is connected to a working power outlet.
  2. Try turning the camera on.
  • If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue with the rest of the instructions in this document.
If the is not resolved ,then repeat setps 1 to 4 abiove but remove the batteries and keep the AC power adapter connected.

Camera will not power on

It is possible that the batteries have corroded the camera's battery contacts or worse. Using a bright light, if necessary, closely examine the contacts where the batteries connect. If there is any sign of corrosion use an eraser to clean the contacts. A regular pencil eraser should work if it is light corrosion. Do not store batteries in anything for long periods. Beyond that I would send it back/take it back before the warranty expires.

Hp photosmart 635 power not on

I have a HP 635 which is the third one after the first two were faulty. This model has a known issue where the 'date/time' battery drains power from the main AA batteries until they are flat.

I have applied a solution by Nspektor from FixYa which seems to have fixed the problem: by removing the 'date/time' battery completely.

I would also recommend using 'ready to use' nimh rechargeable batteries (except Energizers NH15-AAs - they discharge quickly in my experience).
I use Varta 'Ready2Use' 2000mAh nimhs as these are the new generation nimhs that hold 80% of their charge for months rather than losing about 1% of charge per day like normal nimhs. 'Ready to use' nimhs are pre-charged so can be used straight from the packet unlike normal nimhs.

If possible I would return your HP 635 for a refund or at least a store credit, and choose a different camera brand.

I hope this helps.

Batteries

Popular alkaline batteries are inexpensive and can be found anywhere, but their power is consumed at a rapid rate. If you're using all of your camera's features, you can deplete a set of alkaline batteries in about 30 minutes! You should consider spending a little more up front for a battery charger and some rechargeable batteries. Many cameras (including many HP Photosmart digital cameras) work with the popular, rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. They are inexpensive and environmentally friendly, and they give you more pictures per charge than any other battery types, except for lithium-ion batteries—another battery of choice for many HP Photosmart cameras.

Why won’t my camera recharge my batteries?

Not all cameras can charge batteries. CAUTION: Rechargeable batteries must never be used in the HP Photosmart 210 and 215 series digital cameras. The overload protection and control circuits are not designed to handle the kind of power intensity delivered by rechargeable batteries. If the camera is a model that does charge batteries, ensure the batteries are rechargeable: The only acceptable rechargeable batteries for HP Photosmart cameras are NiMH cells. Neither lithium nor alkaline cells are rechargeable, and they will not be charged in the camera. The camera must detect the type and condition of the batteries The camera will only charge batteries when it detects the batteries are rechargeable and in good condition. New rechargeable batteries, and/or batteries than have been unused for a long time will not be recognized as good batteries. If the camera fails to charge NiMH batteries, charge them in an external charger once, then use them in the camera. If this does not correct the problem, the cells are old and/or damaged and new cells must be purchased.
