Have you noticed any ice built up on the rear freezer wall? it is very likely that you have a defrost problem situation,IE: Heater,Defrost Thermostat,Defrost Timer any failure in these components will cause an icing problem and therefore you will not get sufficient air flow to the Food Compartment

SOURCE: The frezer not cool enoug

you may not have enough air circulation at the rear of the machine when you moved it. if the machine can not loose heat through the radiator at the back it looses its cooling capacity. move it back to where it was?

SOURCE: Both top sections fridge/freezer of my side by side are not cold

Sounds like a defrost problem. Remove food from freezer section, take the back wall out after removing shelves, and use a hair blower to melt off the ice and frost. Most likely you need to replace the defrost heater.

YOU HAVE A DEFROST PROBLEM. FROST HAS BUILT UP SOMEWHERE AND THE FAN CAN'T BLOW PAST THE BLOCKAGE. OR ONLY A SMALL SECTION OF YOUR COILS IN THE FREEZER ARE COOLING DUE TO A CLOGGED FILTER OR BAD COMPRESSOR. PULL THE BACK COVER FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER AND LOOK AT THE COILS. THEY SHOULD HAVE A LIGHT FROST AVER THE ENTIRE COIL.IF IT IS A BIG BLOCK OF ICE YOU HAVE A DEFROST PROBLEM.

Intermitent clicking noie...all else ok...help!

Hello Neal;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

A clicking noise can come from several different areas of your unit:

1.) Your freezer cooling coil fan striking ice.
2.) Your bottom condenser fan striking a bent frame.
3.) Your Ice Maker.
4.) Your overload relay, which is mounted on your compressor and acts like a started for your compressor.

Are your fans running?

Are you cooling - freezer - fresh food section?

Send me the model number. The model number is on a label on the side wall near the top in your fresh food section.

Tell me what is going on and I will help you.

MY GE refrigerator is freezing in the freezer section and the refrigerator. However, this is only at the bottom to slightly below the half way Mark. Thisis a two door refrigerator freezer. One half is...

Do not know how to find a repair in your area, but here is what is wrong:
The cooling coils, located behind the back wall of the freezer section, have frosted up, preventing the normal flow of air. Now, some of the cold air in the freezer is sinking and flowing into the bottom of the fresh foods section through the air vent by the bottom bin. To fix this, disconnect power to the refrigerator and unload the freezer side. Remove the panel at the back of the freezer section and melt all the frost and ice. Replace the heater at the bottom of the cooling coils, which would normally take care of the frost build up. Reassemble and restore power.

Refrigerator does not get cold - GE side by side

In my GE side-by-side refrigerator (model number GSS20IEMDWW), there is a motor-controlled flapper door between the freezer and fresh food side. Cold air from the freezer side cools the fresh food side when that flapper door is open.

It is located at the top of the fresh food side on the dividing wall between the fresh food side and the freezer. If this is blocked with something (large left-over container, soft drink bottles, etc), it _may_ be enough to prevent sufficient cooling of the fresh food side.

Of course, there may be a more serious problem with the flapper door mechanism or the control unit that signals the flapper door to open/close.

The vegetable and deli drawers may have a small opening (manually controlled with a wheel or a slider of some sort) that connects those drawers to the freezer side, thus explaining how those areas are still functioning as expected.

Whirlpool Refrigerator fresh food section cool but not cold (freezer ok).

The most likely problem is in the defrost system. Behind the freezer panel there is not only an evaporator fan, but also the evaporator itself, and a defrost heater, termination bi-metal, and drain pan (or trough). You will likely find ice build-up in the evap coil. This could be caused by the defrost timer, the heater, or the termination bi-metal.
Have a service tech look at the unit.

Zanussi zx99/5 freezer working fine but my fridge is too warm

This may be an airflow problem. These are things to check. Make sure the temp control in the fresh food section for both the freezer and the fresh food is set half way between coldest and warmest temp setting. Over adjusting these settings can cause poor air circulation and make the fresh food section too warm. When openning the freezer, the evaporator fan should be on or start shortly. If the evaporator fan stops working, there will be no circulation to cool the fresh food section and will need to be checked to see if it is bad. If bad it will need to be replaced. The evaporator in the freezer section may be iced over causing poor air flow to the fresh food section. You may need a service tech to check this part. If the evaporator is iced over, stopping air circulation, the button thermostat or defrost element may on the evaporator may be bad and could possibly reqiure a technician to replace it Check the first two things and let me know what you find and how it is doing after reseting the temp control. I will be happy to help you in any way I can..
