I dont remember if that year had a theft lock system or not, but I am looking into it. disconnect the negative battery cable for ten minutes and that should get you back to where you can enter the unlock code again and use the radio.

Hey guys, I've just installed a CD changer in my car - having some difficulties getting it to work. After some Googling I came across this forum so I figured I'd see if any of you guys know where I'm...

there should be a small connector on the changer itself for the power ground and remote wire for power to the changer unit. the cord coming from the unit to the changer doesn't supply this power and this is why it wont eject and also your head unit wont recognize it until it gets powered up and able to communicate with the head unit and then it will show up as a selectable source when switching between sources of music. check the back of the changer for a small connector containing 3 or 4 pins and you should have a connector with the corresponding wires coming from it to plug into this spot after connecting the wires properly. if you bought it on ebay it is possible you didn't get this piece which is critical when connecting this changer.

I drive a 1993 Mercedes Benz 300D and the radio recently stopped working. If you turn it on, 5 clicks sound through the speakers and then the messege "E2" comes over the screen and the radio shuts off.

Here are some causes for this failure: "E2"or "E3" (Without CD Changer)

1 Input Power to the RECEIVER UNIT (Trunk mounted) is missing, Check with volt meter to test for 12 volts
2 Fuse of the RECEIVER UNIT (Trunk mounted) is open, Replace it with 7.5 amp fuse.
3 The BUS CABLE (gray colored) that connects to HEAD UNIT(dash mounted) to the RECEIVER UNIT(trunk mounted) is not connected or is defective.
4 RECEIVER UNIT(trunk mounted) is defective. Go through these and try your radio. Hope this works out for you.

Want to know if I can use the line-level inputs from the CD Chgr

Your alpine unit is the old "M-BUS" the other adapter you are talking about is an "AI-BUS" adapter. (Hence the model numbers beginning with CD"M" or CD"A" ...)

Look for an Alpine M-Bus to RCA Input adapter.

heres one on eay for less than 10.00 including shipping.

Input/cut out

With the first question, if you are using an ip-bus to RCA adapter to connect your iPod to the CD changer port on the back of the radio, it won't be recognized until you turn on the AUX function on the radio. In the main function menu (usually gotten to when the radio is powered off), there is an option to turn on AUX1 or AUX2. Do this (consult owner's manual) and you should get your audio to play through.
With the 2nd question, the errors may have something to do with the file format on the discs. Not sure though.

An I-Pod connection box connects to the RCA inputs and the IP-BUS connection.

Audio in

Unfortunately, the "Bus audio in" jacks are only for use with Sony add-on components, like Sony CD changers. Without a Sony component connected to the Bus control jack, the audio input can't be selected. To add an auxiliary input to this head unit, you need to purchase an adapter: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-EMPSKmYtPsH/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=sony+aux&i=127AUXONS

Linking an i pod to a Sony CDX-MP40 using the bus input terminal

Some Sony head units let you use the Bus audio inputs as an auxiliary source input, but yours is not among them. To play your iPod through the head unit, you'll either need an iPod interface module: http://www.xplodsony.com/xplod/accessories/XA-110IP or an auxiliary input module: http://www.xplodsony.com/xplod/accessories/XA-300 The iPod interface will allow you to control and display the iPod directly through the head unit, while an auxiliary input adapter will allow the iPod to play through the head unit using the iPod's controls and display.

MD/CD Changer Control Options

press source button repeatedly to select "CD" or "MD" be aware that in order to connecting Ipod to a car stereo you will need to use an extension cable with 3.5 mm stereo connectors on each end to connect iPod to your car stereo system's aux input, or use a cassette adapter if your car stereo doesn't have a sound input jack. Either of these items can be purchased at stores that sell car stereo accessories. good luck!
