SOURCE: My First Alert Carbon Monoxide Alarm has failed

If the carbon monoxide detector chirps, the battery may be dead. New batteries can be defective. Check if the light is yellow when the alarm is chirping, it means the battery is low, replace with a new battery.

SOURCE: My combo gas /carbon monoxide

The unit may be trying to tell you there is a dangerous situation in your house. Try calling the fire department non-emergency number and describe the problem. They will most likely send a unit to check out your premises. If you can't find a non-emergency number, dial 911 and ask to be connected to the closest station to you to discuss a possible carbon monoxide or gas leak situation. DO NOT SLEEP in the house until you have this checked out. *Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle. How do I change the battery to keep it from beeping every 60 second

Aprilaire does not list that model anymore. There is no information on it. You should know that carbon monoxide detectors have a fixed lifespan and when it is reached, they beep and it does not stop. You have to replace the whole thing.

My camper has been in storage for 2 months. The carbon monoxide detector beeps every 30 seconds. I pushed the reset button and it does no longer beep. Is it still safe to use this detector?

Dale, My alarms beep like that to warn me of batteries needing replaced. What I do is hit the test button and ensure it sounds. I would still replace the battery(ies) and retest when you do.

My nighthawk Kidde carbon monoxide detector keeps beeping every 25-30 seconds. Do I need to buy a new one?

Some models of Carbon Monoxide Detectors will give an audible beep every 25-30 seconds after it has sounded an alert alarm. This may have happened when there was noone home to hear it. A periodic beeping sound may also indicate it is time to change the battery.

Solution: Install a new battery and check your manual for instructions on how to reset the system. Check the expiry date on your unit, it needs to be replaced after 5 to 7 years, according to the manufacturer specifications.

If you are in doubt that your Carbon Monoxide Detector is not working effectively, REPLACE IT. Your safety and your peace of mind is worth it.
