Tried to rtn to factory settings with recovery cd and get error

I have two purchased at the same time. When my son left for college nine months after purchase, he asked me to return it to its original settings. The recovery disk goes half way and then there is a ghost error and it tells me to put a windows floppy in the floppy drive. I do not have a floppy a drive nor did it come with this disk. It has set months old now for three years. Toshiba want 60 or a new disk. I said no it came with faulty dsk. My dsk for the other does not work either. Heard of others with same issue.

Find some that is using windows 98 and have them make you a windows boot disk. I have heard of bad disks from the get go but you may need to buy them that sux that they will not replace them. ask them if you send them the old ones will they send you replacements.
Make sure that the didks are clean verry clean. you can clean them with dish soap and water then dry them with a lint free cloth. papertowls are ok but be gental they can scratch you can use you shirt bu tmake sure that the material is soft and free of fabric softener it will leave a film.or use some windex

How do reboot my acer no disk

To access the recovery partition on your Acer computer for a full restore, follow these steps:

1. Power on the Computer
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the left ALT KEY and press the F10 key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery.
3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click Restore to Factory Default Settings
4. Click OK
5. From here, the eRecovery process will replace all the data on the C:\ partition and restore the factory image.
6. After eRecovery has run, press OK to reboot.

NOTE: All data will be lost during this process and your computer will be brought back to it's original factory state and settings.

If this fails because you have deleted the recovery partition or changed the hard disk due to failure you will require a restore CD.

The Restore CD costs approximately $19.95 (plus taxes) including shipping. If you have a unit from US or Canada, you may purchase the recovery disc from Acer store : Acer Store
If you have purchased the computer in any other country, you may contact Acer support here : Acer Global Support

How to restore accer to factory settings

Select models have the ability to have the operating system reinstalled from a hidden drive built into the computer.

To start the system recovery:

  1. Restart the netbook.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery program has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. In order to recover the system using Acer Recovery Media, an external optical disc drive is required.
  1. Restart the netbook.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F2 key repeatedly.
  3. Press the Left Arrow key until you've selected Boot.
  4. Ensure that the external optical drive is plugged into a USB port.
  5. Refer to on screen instructions to set the first device to USB CDROM.
  6. Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
  7. Close the CD-ROM tray.
  8. Press the F10 key and then the Enter key to save the changes and restart the netbook.
  9. The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
  10. When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.
Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first Recovery CD.

  11. After the system recovery program has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media you may purchase recovery media online. If your computer is unable to run the Acer Recovery process, or errors occur during recovery please contact Acer Support

Restore Hardrive to Factory Settings, Missing Hidden Partition

Yes Claudia you are right. When you wiped the hard drive you deleted the partition that contained the systen restore (factory restore). You will have to purchase a new copy of Vista. It will not contain all of the other programs that came with your computer originally.
Before you installed Windows 7 it clearly states that you have to back up your system before you install it on your hard drive.
Why didn,t you keeep windows 7, if I may ask? If you made a copy of it (which you had to do when you insatlled it) reinstall it and use it. Microsoft will let you purchase it for $50.00, which is a lot less that what it will cost you to purcase Vista Home Premium.

Factory image recovery on hp error 0x4001100200001005 when useing the recovery disk to go back to factory only loads up to 33%

I had the same problem with the recovery cd getting to 83% and giving me the 0x4001100200001005 error. I did 2 things. I cleaned the disk it was erroring on and also removed the ethernet cable from the adapter. I have been working for 4 days on this and parsing the internet for answers. Finally it worked. I don't know if it was the cleaning of the disk...which did not look dirty, or the unplugging the network cable.

Factory.settings

Hi,

According to what you have said, you might have created the Recovery disks after purchasing the notebook. Now you are trying to restore the notebook to factory settings, but they are not working.

Even you have tried to F11 options to restore notebook using the Recovery partition of your notebook.

Let me assist you in this regard.

If the recovery disks are not booting, then we have to check if the issue is with the disks or with the CD/DVD drive itself.

To check that, you need to try to boot with any other OS CD. If the notebook is booting with other OS disks, then the issue is with the Recovery disks itself.

Even F11 option is not working, you have to make sure that D: Recovery is not removed.

For your information, if the issue is with the Recovery disks, then you can purchase the Recovery disks from Hp at very low price.

You can order them from the below link:

Under
CD-ROM order page - Recovery Discs you can order the place order for Recovery disks.
