If this is a belt drive turntable the belt might be in the wrong position or is slack due to wear.

Why is this turntable running slow?

It depends which type of turntable it is. If a belt one then change the belt, make certain you make a note of how the belt fits before removing it.

Direct drive turntables are more difficult. As it could be any number of faulty parts that cause it.
A build up of grease or dirt in any type of deck can slow the speed down.

A faulty motor on both types of deck will also cause it.

Why is turntable too slow?

If it's belt drive, the rubber drive belt may be slipping (look inside and see if you can detect slippage).....or if it's gear driven or direct drive.....I'd just let it run for an hour or so and see if it speeds up.

If not, and it's valuable, take it to a repair shop. If it's cheap....scrap it!

HMV Radiogram Turntable run slow at the start,

you should check under the table.
if it's a roller drive there, you can use water to clean the roller rubber and the inside edge of the platter.

If it's a belt drive, take it out and measure the length and get a replacement belt of same length
