SOURCE: Can only Epson brand Ni-MH batteries be used?

I own a variety of NiMH batteries and chargers (both the fast (ie. like the Epson "3 hour") charger and slow or "trickle" overnight chargers for AA applications. As far as I can tell, all NiMH battaries, chargers and appliances (eg cameras) are interchangable. Just follow the Charger Manufacturer's instructions for how long to leave the batteries in the charger. The time required for full charging will be dependent on how much charge is left in the batteries, as well as on the rated capacity of the particular battery used (mAh or "milli amp hours").

I think your tryiong to charge NIMH batteries oon a charger designed for Lithium Ion batteries. With all the new style batteries such as NICAD, NIMH and LI-ION, charging becomes difficult. Most chargers pre NIMH and LI-ion, were designed for NICAD's. The best advise, match your batteries with the correct charger

A flashing red light indicates that there's an error, or the batteries are defective.

No, the unit won't switch itself off once the batteries have been fully charged. The unit will start trickle charging instead.

Mine is doing this too. Despite making several attempts to get a reply about this on this site, only other references to this selfsame question are forthcoming. My guess is the charger is gubbed and you need to go back to the seller if still inside warranty. In this case mine is Tantronics in the UK - the importer is Nevada radio, also UK.

Because digital cameras require such a high amount of current it is not recommended to use Alkaline batteries. My best suggestion would be to purchase rechargeable batteries that meet the following requirements. (AA Rechargeable Batteries with a minimum of 1800mAh (or higher) Nickel MetalHydride 1.2V). or (Panasonic CR-V3 3V Lithium Battery)

I have the Maha c204f charger and two sets of 1600mA Powerex Batteries. Over the past two months I have found that this is a perfect set up for my use of my Oly 2040. The batteries fully charge in under 3 hours, don't have a "memory effect", can be left in the charger without damage, and will take over 100 pictures with liberal use of flash, LCD, reviewing, etc. The whole set-up will cost you about $50 from
