Hey, the "round cylinder" is a power steering motor for a John Deere 630. If you start looking for one of those instead, I'll bet you'll have better luck. Deere dealerships tend to not care unless you're buying a half million dollars in equipment.

SOURCE: John Deere Lawn Tractor LX176. Battery discharge

Locate voltage regulator above battery to the left as you sit on machine, its behind frame that supports steering wheel.Once you have found it use a light to shine on harness and follow the brown wire that leads into regulator. The plastic around that wire should not be burnt or showing any other color. The LX series machines had a problem with brown wire coming loose and causing the charging light to stay on.Remove plug from reg and use small screwdriver to clean out wire and work it a little so it makes good contact.

I have a Honda vtr 1000 sp1 Indicators and horn stoped working all other electronics are fine ! Is it just a fuse or the switch assembly??

Hi, Carl before diagnosing any turn signal/running light/parking light issue make sure the bulb is good and the light fuse has continuity with a test light. If you have replaced you OEM lights with LED lights you are going to need a load equalizer. If no turn signals work the cause could be a faulty turn signal module or the connector going to it, look for corroded, loose, or broken pins/sockets. Contact spray cleaner is great for removing corrosion. If your speedometer does not function properly it will have to be fixed first because your turn signal module gets the data from the speedometer for normal turn signal function. If your front turn signals don't work use a test light to check for power and ground at the bulb socket, then start backtracking the wiring through every wire connector to the turn signal switch/button and check for continuity, go all the way back to the fuse if necessary to find the cause of the malfunction. If your rear turn signals don't work check your rear fender wiring harness connector first for corroded, broken, loose pins/sockets, power, and a good ground, (the harness connector is usually located under the seat on the front of the rear fender) then keep tracing the wiring look for obvious harness damage caused by the rear tire. If you still can't find the malfunction backtrack from the rear fender wiring harness connector. If one side does not work you could have a faulty turn signal switch or module check for continuity. 2005 Toyota Sienna rear brake lights not working. Rear Center light works fine. I have replaced the bulbs and checked fuses. Continuity is good. all other rear lights work fine. What is the problem?

I am wondering if you have a bad ground wire.
Each tail light/brake light had a separate ground wire, that is supposed to be hooked to the ground somewhere.
If it is bad, those lights will not work.
Your center light probably has a separate ground wire.
If you take an electrical meter, test the bulbs with a meter, then stick the meter's contacts inside the socket and press the brake pedal and see if the meter shows "juice".
Often a car wreck/fender bender can break or compromise the ground wire of which I spoke.
God bless your efforts.

A fuseable link comes through the fire wall. I had to solder a wire to my '92 van to keep it working after it blew. It happened a long time ago and now I'm not sure what it effected.

When i apply my brakes my taillight does not light up like it should the wiring in the fender is brand new the taillight is new the brake switch is new

Well, if everything is new, it sounds like a bad ground. Since all of the stuff is new, it also sounds like it's a fresh built or has been repaired after an accident. Since the brake light grounds to the fender and the fender is grounded to the fender struts and they're grounded to the frame. See what I mean. Make certain that you have a good ground.

Then take a volt meter and measure the voltage going to the tail light. It should be the same as the battery. If not, there may be a problem with the brake light switch.

Good Luck
Steve

The tail light and brake light don't work. the bulb looks fine and the tour pack light lights and turn signal lights work.

The wiring sub-harness for the tail light assembly could have come unplugged, It usually plugs into the main harness under the seat or down beside the forward part of the rear fender. Also the wires could have been damaged under the fender back behind the tail light assembly.

Good Luck

Headlight out, driving lights out, fog lights out... but directional front and rear lights work fine as does the brake light work fine. there just does'nt seem to be any electric going to those lights up...

ok could be a couple things here. Im having a memory issue at the moment so first Im gonna tell ya to check the light on your front fender if it has one?
If so and that light is out as well then run your fingers up the inside of the front fender on the right side of the tire. Have the wires from the fender tip light been rubbing on the tire and now are bare and shorted out?
Second at least if the fender tip light wires are ok or you dont have a fender tip light would be to simply click your hi/low beam light switch. Do you have a high beam and just not a low beam? If so its the bulb in the headlight because its blown out on the low beam side. Replace the headlight and then youll have your passing lamps and your fog lamps back as well since those circuits all get there power from the low beam circuit of the headlight. Good luck and let me know what you find.
