Why does the deep fryer pilot goes out

There are several possible causes of this problem, aside from a loose or damaged wire, which is uncommon. The cause in about 95% of the cases is a thermopile that has gone bad. The thermopile is the small cylinder that is attached to the pilot assembly where part of the pilot flame can contact it. It has a cable or wire going to the gas valve, high limit switch, or both. When hot enough, it produces an electrical current that keep the pilot on and allows the main gas valve to open. Be sure that you have a good pilot flame. The pilot may need to be cleaned or adjusted. The thermopile is not hard to replace in most gas fryers and not too expensive. This often starts as an intermittent problem. The second possible cause is a defective high limit. The high limit is a small rectangular device with wires going to the gas valve and a tiny stainless tube that goes through the bottom of the kettle to a sensor bulb, like the thermostat has. These are usually self resetting, but may have a small red reset button. If present check the reset. If no reset, jump the two wires and see if the fryer will now light. If so, the high limit is defective, assuming the fryer is not over temperature. If defective, replace. Do not operate the fryer in this condition as there is no over temperature protection. The next cause is if the oil is too hot, in which case the high limit will shut off both the main burner and the pilot. The pilot cannot be relit until the fryer cools down and the high limit resets. If the oil is too hot, usually over 425F, replace the thermostat. If the high limit trips when the oil is in the normal operating range, replace the high limit. The final cause is a bad gas valve. This is not too common, but the gas valve is expensive and a bit difficult to replace. Check all of the other causes first.

Commercial propane fryer wont light

If the pilot won't light, the first thing to try is to replace the thermopile, assuming you have a good flame on the top portion of the thermopile in the first place when you hold the gas valve in when in the pilot position. If this does not solve the problem, which in 90% of the cases it will, the gas valve is defective. I usually replace the thermopile when replacing the gas valve and save the old one for a backup.

My pilot light won't stay lite, replace thermopile and still doesn't stay lite.

Hi there.
Check for wiring errors, fix and tighten all wiring connections. Make sure that the gas pressure is correct.
Check the hi limit and gas valve, one of those component may be bad.
Regards.

Pilot light is working in a.m. when machine is started. After machiine runs up to temp (350 deg) the burner will turn off and pilot will go out also. After finding machine has shut off we turn it off and...

Ensure that the gas pressure being fed to the unit meets the standard as rated on the unit's nameplate.
The thermopile must be free of soot or any form of dirt.
Pilot flame quality must be good and can heat up the thermopile properly.
Wiring connectors must be tight.

Regards.

Pilot won't lite. fryer is 6 months old. Did get pilot to lite once and as soon as we turned thermostat pilot went out.

When you turned on the thermostat you required more millivolts from the system and it failed. Low millivolts. That would tell you the pilot generator needs replacing. Make sure you have a good pilot flame hitting the pilot generator.

The fryer pilot lights for just a bit and then it clicks off and will not light burner

Try replacing the thermopile, they get weak over time. This is the most common problem. Make sure you have a good pilot flame. Try adjusting the pilot if it looks low. If the pilot goes down when the main gas tries to come on and there is a gas regulator on the fryer gas line, the leak limiter may be clogged. The leak limiter looks like a 0.5" brass hex nut just off the center of the top of the regulator. Most HVAC suppliers can get a new one for you. Make sure to get one that matches the old one exactly. If all else fails, you may need to replace the gas valve. I always recommend replacing the thermopile at the same time.

Keating fryer won't stay lit

You might want to see about getting your money back or swapping it for another. I'm guessing it is a natural gas model. If so check and make sure you have between 4 and 5 water columm gas pressure. If so I would start by checking the thermopile and make sure it's producing around 700 milivolts. If your not able to measure this or have the tools to do so, I would start by replacing the thermopile. (This is not a thermocouple.)If this does not fix the problem. You have a bad gas valve. Thermopile cost around $60.00. Gas valve runs around $30000You can go this web site for more info http://www.tmeinc.biz/xkeat.htm

Burner will not light

After esearching this problem you have a thermopile reading back through a pilot safty valve. It will be a valve which looks like a tee with a red button facing the operating side of the fryer. Take a reading where the two wires from the thermopile tie into the pilot safty valve the reading should be around 300mv to 500mv. Anything outside of this range would mean that your thermopile is defective. If your reading is in this range it would be the pilot safty valve that is defective.
