Question about Fender Music

1 Answer

I bought a used black Fender Stratocaster about 20 years ago with the serial # H 035195 silkscreened on the headstock. At the base of the neck near the body, it has stamped " Made in USA".

The tuners look like Fender tuners but without the "F" on the back of them. I was told by the owner of the store that it was made here in the US designated for export. I am confused since the "H" designates it's made in Japan but the "Made in USA" which is clearly stamped at the base of the neck has me confused. Also the truss rod hole at the headstock is plugged. It has the dark wood but is solid instead of having a hole. Did I get taken or is this some oddball thing. Is it worth anything? Please help. Henry Ducassi Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

I suspect the H is really an N, which would place it.1990-91. As long as the adjustment screw for the truss rod is at the base of the neck. The plugged top end isn't a concern. Your best source of info is to contact Fender customer service directly. Here's the link-

V130147 fender Stratocaster reissue serial number .Im trying to find out what year it was made I think I purchased it in early 90s late 80s

That serial number could be for a guitar was made in Corona California, but it does not give the year, which should be visible on the neck of the guitar.

It could be for a guitar made in the Fuji-Gen Japan plant, in 1996-1997, in which case it should show a neck decal "Made in Japan".

I have a Fender Stratocaster with the serial number 006022 printed at the top of the headstock. What year is it?

Those numbers don't correspond with normal Fender numbering schemes. Are there any letters preceding the numbers? Where was the instrument made?

Fender Artist Signature Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster US13088442

A new serial numbering scheme was adopted toward the end of 2009 using the number "10" as a prefix, followed by a space, followed by seven digits. The "10" prefix was designed to identify the first year of the second decade of the new millennium, and while it appears on the instrument decals, it was not captured in Fender's operating system. Only the seven-digit suffixes were actually entered into the database. These serial numbers did not identify the country of origin in the body of the number. Instead, the instrument's country of origin appears on the decal on the back of the headstock, near the serial number.

This new numbering scheme was short-lived and was replaced only a few months later by an improved scheme that identifies an instrument's country of origin and year of manufacture in the body of the serial number.

This new scheme uses the letters "US" as a prefix to designate an instrument made in the United States, followed by an eight-digit number. The first two digits of the number identify the year of manufacture, (10 for 2010, 11 for 2011, etc.). The following six digits are the unit identifier, although it should be noted that these final six numbers are not sequential and do not provide any other identification information about the instrument. This new scheme is now used on the majority of U.S.-made Fender instruments, with exceptions including the American Vintage series and certain special-run instruments. I have a Fender Squier Stratocaster Standard HSS. Serial number: ic071104059. i am trying to determine the year and specifications

It was made in 2007. If you call Fender directly they can sometimes id the exact model version from the serial number. The records they keep on Squier guitars is a bit sketchy, but sometimes they can help.

Fret buzz on new fender david gilmour Nos strat

fret buzz can usually be cured by adjusting the tension rod, unless the neck is permanently warped from excessive heat/humidity (from, say, being left in a car on a summer day).

hold the headstock up to your face, and look down the neck. you should see that the neck is uneven around the frets that buzz. if the neck appears straight when viewed from the headstock, down toward the body, then the strings are just too low, and the bridge should be raised. if you see unevenness in the neck, however, when viewed this way, you should attempt to use the tension rod to straighten the neck.

the tension rod can be adjusted with the hex bolt that pokes out at the base of the headstock, right from under the top of the fretboard. use an allen key to gently turn the tension rod either way until the neck begins to straighten out. if the tension rod cannot straighten the neck, then the neck is warped from heat/humidity.
