Could be the door interlock or simply there is no water entering the machine. Check water supply and also the vales inside the machine . the solenoids should buzz nd hum a little if they are energised but could still be blocked ???

SOURCE: Door Lock Clicks/Makes noises Washer does not agitate/spin

Sounds like very worn motor brushes to me, as its trying to turn the drum but has'nt the power needed to maintain any momentum, and the blinking door light is because of the bad cotact from brushes to motor.About £20 for a set of brushes or get an engineer to fit new brushes, but get a price first.

These older units had an insert in the agitator that would strip out.  Remove your agitator and take to a parts store. They should be able to help you out.

SOURCE: Frigidaire affinity not draining

The problem is that on the infeed side of the pump there is a catch/filter in the Hose/boot that will catch lint and coins (LOTS OF COINS) and will not allow the water to flow through to the pump. This will stop the cycle and prevent the tub from spinning and the basin will not drain.
to fix this turn your washer over and access the pump from the bottom. the boot can be disconnected from the wash basin with a phillips screwdriver, reach in the boot and pull out the plastic catch and empty the debri, reinstall the the catch after cleaning it and put the boot back on. Set your machine back upright and conncet all the hoses and plug it in. It should work. This is a easy job but it will take an hour or so.

SOURCE: Kenmore Washing Machine fills with water then just stops

The symptoms you describe are typical of a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually located on the right hand side under the cabinet. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the right side of the wash tub opening. Make sure the lid strike is still on the lid and intact, first. Then, check the mounting screws that hold the lid switch in place (two screws along the tub rim on the right hand side). Often all that is required is to tighten up the mounting screws and this will realign the lid switch where it can be properly activated by the lid strike. If the lid switch is broken, you can find a replacement at Just type in your model number and look under the "Top and Cabinet" heading for item number 11 for the lid switch and item number 20 for the lid strike (if needed). If you do not wish to order online, take the part numbers provided by Sears and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. These are common parts that most will carry in their store inventory. The following link explains how to replace the switch:

This is a very inexpensive repair that you can easily accomplish on your own. I hope you find this information helpful. If you require additional assistance, please let me know.

PS This is a common problem experienced by this line of washing machines. To prevent future failures, do not slam the washer lid or place anything heavy on the lid. Repeatedly slamming the lid to get it to work, or manipulating the timer can also cause more potential problems.

Candy CDB 854: Just installed, spin tested briefly. Now just lights and no function.

Turn the power back on, go through the instruction book to start the machine up. If its still not right, call the Service Agent. Its brand new and will be covered by warranty.

I have a candy go c58f and it is stopping after approx 10 secs of starting it's cycle and all the lights are flashing - I have checked the filters and emptied the water

This is a problem of the dryer being too cold. What you need to do is turn it off when all the lights flash (using the dial) then turn it back on again and start the cycle again. Repeat until it keeps going.

This is a real PITA. I spoke to their customer services about it and told me what to do. It seems the sensors in it are not happy in cold weather!

Mine takes 6 to 10 go's in very cold weather. I find it's best to get it warmed up when empty as the hot air gets to the sensors more quickly.
