Question about Hobart SR24C-4 Dishwasher

1 Answer

I am looking for a replacement chlorine supply tube that includes the anti-syphon (or backflow) ball valve to connect a clorox bottle to the pump inlet of a Hobart undercounter sanitizing dishwasher. In the set-up I have a large clorox bottle standing upright in the undersink cabinet and the supply tube comes out of the top of the bottle to connect to the clorine pump inlet

My tank isn't tall enough to fit the ball **** with a 1 inch difference above the overflow pipe. Is it possible that I have to cut the overflow pipe?

I wouldn't cut the overflow. This is a requirement for proper backflow prevention. Many toilets do not even have backflow preventors on the fill valve. If you try to cut the tube, if you cause other damage, you'll hate yourself.
If you can, set the top of the fill valve as high as you can, the ball float can be at a lower angle to keep the water level below the existing overflow tube.

My Karcher 2400 Pressure Washer will not syphon cleaning fluid. I have a reconditioned machine and the syphon for cleaning fluid has not worked for a while.Everything looks clean but still does not work'...

The black tip nozzle puts the right amount of pressure on the line to draw up the cleaning solution.

If your power washer is like mine, the cleaning fluid adapter is a 'T shaped' brass valve that fits in-line along the hose line.
There is a brass stem sticking out.
The stem has a tiny ball valve on the end.
A plastic hose fits onto the stem, and the plastic hose goes into bucket of cleaner.
As water travels through power washer hose, it creates suction that draws cleaning solution through the tiny ball valve.

The brass ball valve gets clogged or wears out ... we used to replace the stem every so often.
Sherwin Williams used to carry a replacement stem ... but they may not sell little parts any more.
It's been 14 years since I used the suction device.
I got fed up with the thing not working.

We changed over to a pump-up hand-held sprayer for applying cleaning chemical.
The pump-up puts more chemical on the spots where you need it.
So one guy puts chemical on, and second guy comes behind with power washer ... no more replacement parts, and one tip stays in the gun so we never lose a tip.
A pump-up sprayer is half the cost of replacing the T-shaped valve.
Duh-simple is the business model.

How do we get the cleaner to go up the hose

We used to add a clorox mixture when we power-washed

There is a special fitting that goes on the power washer line
The fitting is a T with 2 quick connects that match your pump&hose quick connects
The T fitting attaches to pump >> the power washer line attaches to T
The T fitting has a short extension where you attach a plastic hose that goes to your bucket of clorox
The T has a small one-way ball valve that only lets clorox enter the power washer line, but power washer pressure doesn't escape into the clorox
The small ball will clog over time, so when you buy a T, see if you can get replacement part

When you pull the trigger, the pump pressure shoots water out of the gun
The water pressure shooting out of the gun creates a suction that draws up the clorox
The clorox enters the line and gets shot out of the gun
The same basic idea is used on shallow well pumps

We discovered after a few years that is was easier-to-control and cheaper to apply the clorox with a pump-up hand sprayer. We could apply more clorox. The machine was not exposed to chemicals.
Remember the engine draws-in surrounding vapors and those vapors can chew up the metal parts of any combustion surface.

Pump won't pick up cleaning fluid thru plastic suction tube.. Troy Built with 5 hp engine

The suction tube connects to a small brass piece that has a ball valve. When pump pushes water down hose, it creates suction on the ball valve. The ball valve has to be the right size. Too large, no suction, too small, no suction. The entire world of electronics is based on similar principle.

When the ball valve wears out, or gets clogged, the pump pressure is not able to lift fluid. Try cleaning valve, but my bet is you need a new part with the ball valve.

I have a Pentair 320 automatic chlorine feeder. I have filled it with chlorine tabs, but I am still getting a zero reading for chlorine when I test my pool water. Can it be plugged?

It can be but probably isn't. A three inch tab is meant only to maintain your chlorine level. You must first bring the chlorine level up to specs, by adding either liquid or powdered chlorine, than add one or two tabs a week to hold it at that level.

Does the 2004 cavalier have an anti-siphon valve between the filler tube and the gas tank?

Yes, it has a wire mesh type anti syphon device, if you desperately need to syphon fuel from the vehicle it can be pushed through with the hose pipe, but you may risk blocking the fuel outlet if the mesh falls into the tank.

2007 Saturn vue won't accept gas.

There is an anti-syphon screen in the filler neck of the gas tank. They do not have very large openings and the slightest debris will act like it is blocked. EIther have the screen replaced or completely removed, or don't put gas nozzle completely in the hole

Flat tyre

If you have the "Mini Mobility System" your car has a tube of tyre sealant and an electric air pump. These are locate in the boot (trunk) under the carpet.

Shake the tube of sealant. Screw the filler hose onto the bottle. Unscrew the dust cap from the tyre valve. Unscrew the valve insert from the tyre valve using the screw device (very important). Push the tube of tube of sealant onto the tyre valve and hold the bottle with the cap pointing downwards. Squeeze the bottle and force the entire contents into the tyre. Replace the tyre valve insert using the screw tool (most important).

Get the electric pump and connect the hose with the pressure guage onto the tyre valve. Connect the pump electric plug into the cigarette socket in the car or power outlet in the boot (ignition key needs to be on position 1). Inflate the tyre to 1.8 - 2.5 bar. Switch the pump off for a moment to check the pressure accurately. Unscrew the compressor, and put everything away in the boot. IMMEDIATELY drive your car for about 10 minutes. This is to distribute the sealant throughout the tyre. Do not exceed 60km/h. After driving for 10 minutes, recheck the tyre pressures using the pump or at a service station. Continue your journey but keep below 80km/h until you have the tyre checked or replaced.

A 'saltwater system' is a chlorine producing system and yes, it is compatible as long as it is installed in the correct position with a check valve behind the cell to prevent backflow during system shutdown.

Water will not drain. Motor is working. Drain does not appear to be clogged.

GE has equipped many of their dishwashers with a crappy anti-syphon ball. The problem with this is that they often relocate and clog the drain. To fix it, syphon all the water out of the basin of the diswasher and remove the kick plate. Open the dishwasher and remove the 1/4" hex head screw behind the food screen and remove the spray arm by prying the plastic clip on the back side (be careful not to break it). Then remove the two 1/4" hex head screws in the plastic basket and remove it. Remove the two screws that hold the dishwasher to the countertop and slide the dishwasher out. There is a large manilla colored hose with a huge hose clamp on it. Have plenty of rags on hand because this part gets messy. Remove the hose clamp and pull this area open. A small white plastic ball should roll out. Replace the hose clamp and slide the dishwasher back into place (clean up all the water that escaped first, and make sure you have turned off the power to the dishwasher before beginning). Drop the ball into the small tube on the left side under where the plastic basket goes. Installation is reverse of removal.
