Whats the error code 42?

I think this is a DLP tv and has a special fan deep inside the works. I think, not sure, but you can google around to find more information that error code 42 is that fan having failed or disconnected somehow.

Why is tv blinking 4 red lights and 8 yellow lights

An error code of 48 indicates a main power board failure. There is a short down the 3.3v or 5v switched supply.

WD-82738 82-Inch six red blinks one yellow blink replaced chip to fix white pixels issue.

These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. For more information, check the link http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Blinking code detail, and fault finding procedure to many brand TVs are given. If the status led is blinking yellow its indicating that the filter cover on the side is open. If its the lamp indicator thats blinking yellow its indicating the lamp door cover isnt attached properly.

TV was working earlier, today came home no green power light no nothing

I looked up the manual online - after you replace the bulb, you need to reset the bulb life timer. Using the TV remote push the menu button, SETUP menu, select the lamp reminder option to reset the hours to zero. That might help the status indicators.
