Question about AVENUES The SPYDER SwissGear Wireless Laser Mobile Mouse
My Spyder was working great, I plugged a USB extender into the USB port, the USB fan would work, but the mouse would not. So I plugged the mouse back in.
I get full lights on the piece that plugs into the USB, but the mouse won't work at all.
I've put in new batteries, just in case
I've rebooted to see if the computer would pick up new hardware.
I've pressed the connect button.
Zip nothing.........what can I do.
I had a similar problem. I corrected by performing a manual connect as listed in the manual that came with the mouse.
1. Plug in the receiver.
2. Turn on the mouse.
3. Press the button on the receiver.
4. Press the connect button on the mouse once within five seconds of pressing the button on the receiver.
This worked for me, and the mouse has worked fine since.
If this doesn't work. The manual suggested taking the batteries out of the mouse for 20 seconds and unplugging the receiver, then repeat the steps above.
If that doesn't work. reboot the computer and repeat the steps above.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like you have tried the normal stuff. The only thing I can think of is to boot without the usb adapter in. Then plug it into a different USB port. As well perhaps try it without anything else plugged in. Sometimes windows is not that good at remebering what is called legacy usb. Those are just things left plugged in when you restart the next time. So you have to try a different port. On a laptop if say you have this normally on the side try a port on the back. Same with a pc. That should get it recognized not only on a different usb port but should use a different usb controller. It will then wake up and say found new hard ware and resintall the drivers if any or ask for them.
Unfortunetly if you ever noticed that the usb thingy (yes thingy is a proper technical term) was hot that can indicate it was failing. So you may need to replace the mouse and usb adapter.
