SOURCE: Keyboard codes

I think they have to be programmed into the game (whatever)that is? Most game programmers do this anyway but in some games they use emulation such as what you experience ie;W,A,S,Z(they emulate the arrow keys).....there is no way out of this unless you go in to the game programme itself. Thats why you couldnt find any in C++

Sounds like your number lock maybe be on. It could also have a shortcut function option that is on. If not, have you spilled anything on it lately?

Nothing to do with the drivers. If you can, configure the controls in the game to something else like WASD or IJKL. W being up, A being left, S being down, and D being right. I also play flash games and this is not a problem for me. I use firefox. Maybe give that a try.

There might be a hardware problem with your keyboard. You can run a quick diagnostics for the keyboard. You can access diagnostics by going to the advanced bood option. When you turn on the system as soon as you see the Dell logo keep tapping on F12, select diagnostics and pre boot system assessment will load. After running a quick diagnostics for the system it will give an option to select Custom test and select the test for keyboard . It will ask you to tap on the keys and if there's an error shows you have to replace the internal keyboard already.

Deadeye, the problem isn't with the keyboard but with the motherboard overheating. Grab a cheap laptop cooler from geeks.com and you will find that this will keep the laptop cool enough to play a game without key creep taking over. The DV9000 laptop from HP is notorious for overheating and dying due to improper ventilation and you need a laptop cooler no matter what else you do.
Otherwise your laptop could simply overheat and the solder will separate.
