In order to start it with an electric cord you must have a feature called an electric starter. If you dont have the electric starter on your machine now, one can be added at a dealership

Hi dwva, I think you have the belt on properly seeing the other gears work fine. The difference between 1st and reverse can be as little as 1 half in on the drive wheel. It depends on which side of center is the friction wheel riding. Remove bottom pan with the machine in 2nd or 3rd gear notice which side of center is the friction wheel riding. (the friction wheel is the one with a rubber outer ring). Now put it in 1st, is it on the same side of center? There is an adjustment on that linkage, adjust so in 1st is on the same side of center. Happy New Year, hope that helps.

SOURCE: Cannot start Husqvarna HSK 70 Snow King snowblower

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

I am assuming that you have alred checked the ignition spark. If not please do so by removing the spark plug and re-connecting the plug to the high tension lead then pull the recoil through with the ignition on. You should see spark across the electrode AND to ground.

I suspect that there is debris in the carb float bowl and jet orifice. This requires that you remove the float bowl nut and float bowl. NOTE the gasket on the top of the float bowl and how it is installed AS you REMOVE the float bowl. Clean out the float bowl and in the threaded are of where the bowl nut screws into there is a brass orifice. These get a tiny speck of debris in them and they will not allow the engine to draw fuel into the carb passages. The orifice can be removed by using a thin bladed screwdriver and some will power to initially remove the orifice. Hold it up to the light. You should see a pin hole in the orifice. No pin hole visible = clogged orifice. Use something like a tooth pick to remove the debris and DO NOT poke anything into or through the orifice hole. Just clear the orifice hole.

Here is the manual for your engine.

http://www.cpdonline.com/692509.pdf

See figure 58 on page 25 for carb break down. Repair procedures preceed page 25.

This should get you going again. If not you have the manual but I wam willing to help you with any questions you have down the road. Just respond here and I will gladly assist you.

One last thing... make sure the fuel selector is on and that you have fuel to the carb manifld connection. Things like the fuel filter and fuel tank outlet port can be clogged.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

SOURCE: can't get a bead on tire

Wrap heavy rope centered around the circumference of the tire and tie it securely. Place a bar or box wrench between rope and tire. Turn bar in either direction which will synch the rope and collapse the center of the tire, forcing the bead to seal with the rim. Fill with air. Works every time

MTD Mastercraft Snow King Snowblower (1997) electric starter stopped operating today (during a snow storm of course). Any ideas? Thanks. Checked cord - good condition. Power to the chord. David

It was running and stopped while using or it worked one day but not the next?
The Machine stopped running or just the electric starter? If just starter check to see if snow/ice built up around starter button.

I have an MTD single-stage snow blower that I replace the other the cable and the belt and under a load it's still not throwing snow

There should be 2 holes on the handle that engages the auger belt, use the top hole as it will increase the belt tension.
Check the condition of the rubber auger's rubber paddles as they are subject to wear and should be replaced if any signs of excessive
wear is present.

Sounds like a gasket. Mine did that and I never had the gasket in place when I put it together. Make sure the bolt has the right washer as well and don't over tighten.

I have a snow king 5hp snow blower. while clearing snow, the snow only oozes out the shoot.

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A TWO STAGE SNOWBLOWER WITH ONLY ONE STAGE WORKING. I BET THAT YOUR PROBLEM IS THE AUGER IS TURNING BUT THE IMPELLER BLADE THAT IS BEHIND THE AUGER HAS PROBABLY JAMMED UP WITH SOMETHING AND IS SPINNING ON THE SHAFT. YOU WILL HAVE TO REACH BACK AND GRAB IT AND TRY TO TURN IT ON THE SHAFT BY HAND.MAKE SURE THE BLOWER IF OFF!!!! . IF YOU CAN TURN IT BY HAND EASILY IT HAS EITHER BROKE A SHEAR PIN OR BOLT OR SOME TIMES THEY WILL TACK WELD THEM TO THEM TO THE SHAFT. GOOD LUCK
