Why is my refrigerator temperature dropping and freezing food, but freezer temp holds.

Hello Michael, I appreciate your inquiry!

Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire refrigerator is dropping the temperature within the fresh food side. The damper is located within the back of the fresh food side and this part will open and close so that the cold air from the freezer will come into the fresh food side. It is possible that this damper can be stuck open or staying open for too long. Do you notice any frost developing within the freezer? If so, please perform a manual defrost on the refrigerator and you can do that by disconnecting power from it for at least one hour. If there is no frost within the freezer then check to make sure no packages are holding the damper open. You may need to replace the damper or the damper motor and I would recommend having a professional technician out to perform proper replacement repairs. Best of luck! -Matt

I have a side by side gallery, The freezer and fridge are working at the bottom, however, not at the top of the unit. Its like the cool and cold air is not getting circulated to the top of the unit. From...

check the damper door vent as it sounds as if it has frozen itself shut or possibly the cold control in the refrigerator has gone bad and can't control the door, the door is usually behind a diverter panel or a grille where the fan forces the cold air in from the freezer, the cold control is the component that you adjust to change refrige temp setting

My freezer works but the refrigerator doesn't. It

The fan that blows cold air from the freezer to the fresh food compartment is probably the culprit. There is also a mechanical 'door' that is controlled by the fresh food temperature dial that may be stuck closed or the linkage broken. The way it works is: The wider the door is open, the more cold air (from the freezer) is allowed to blow into fresh food compartment.

Turn both temperature dials all the way up and open the freezer compartment. Do you hear a fan running? If not, the fan is most likely bad. If you do hear the fan, there's probably a problem with the door or the linkage that connects it to the control dial.

Hope this helps.

Freezer is cold but the frig side is not???

Hi Gotzd,  If you open the fresh food side (not the freezer), and look to the upper left side you will see a plastic shroud or cover. Behind that cover is a printed circuit board (p.c. board)   and a damper motor. That motor brings cold air from the freezer to the fresh food side. The whole damper assembly may need to be replaced. That also includes the cold controls for both sides of the "fridge".  Home Depot Parts and Accessories has the part available. 800.378.5830. Call, give them your model number, and the description, they will locate the part number for you. This MAY be the solution for you, it was for me. Hope this helps, better yet, Hope you've fixed already.
