How to Update PSP to Firmware Ver 6.20

It's easy to update/upgrade the Playstation Portable (PSP) 3000 system software to firmware version 6.20. There are two ways to do a PSP 6.20update - regular file download and network update. We did an update on our pink PSP 3000 using the network update procedure since our place has wifi.
Why did we choose network update in updating our PSP firmware to ver 6.20? It's much simpler. Here is a quick tutorial on how to carry out PSP 6.20 update using Network Update (Method 1):
  1. Go to Network Settings to configure your PSP WLAN by setting up an access point.
  2. Under Network Settings, it would be best to choose Automatic to simplify the process. Your PSP console will search for any wireless network available nearby.
  3. To Update System Software to the latest 6.20 firmware version, Go to Network Update. Be sure your battery is full because the update will fail if you turn off you PSP console or if the unit shuts down due to lack of battery power.
Method 2: Download File To Update PSP 6.20 Firmware Using a PC. If you prefer to update your console using the download method, here are the simple steps in doing this:

HOW TO INSTALL CFW 5.03 GEN-C 9 (FULL) ON YOUR PSP

HOW TO INSTALL CFW 5.03 GEN-C (FULL) ON YOUR ALL PSP WITH ORIGINAL FIRMWARE VERSION 5.03

Requirements :

1. OFW 5.03 version
2. Chickhen R2 software (with slim mod2.tiff for psp slim or phat.tiff for phat psp)
3. CFW updater Gen-C software
4. ISO/CSO games
5. egghunt.bin
6 h.bin
7. A Computer

Note 1 : CHICKHEN R2, CFW updater GEN-C, egghunt.bin, h.bin and ISO/CSO games are downloadable in any website. But if you need it badly, I can send it by email. You cannot run install CHICKHEN R2 if any one of the softwares are missing.

Note 2 : This is for OFW 5.03 version only and it will not work in other OFW version 5.50, 5.55, 6.10, 6.01 & 6,20.

FIRST you need to download the required softwares like CHICKHEN R2, CFW updater GEN-C (if you have other CFW updater like GEN-B or GEN-A), EGGHUNT.bin, H.bin and at least 1 ISO/CSO game and store it in you computer.

THEN WE WILL START TO TRANSFER THESE SOFTWARES TO YOUR PSP.

TRANSFERRING DATA PROCEDURE:

1. Connect your psp to your computer using usb cable and it will display autoplay window. Just click view files. If it doesn't run on autoplay window, just go to SYSTEM SETTING and choose connect to USB MODE.

2. Put the CHICKHEN R2 to PICTURE FOLDER.

3. Put the GEN-C to GAME FOLDER.

4. Put the EGGHUNT.bin and h.bin to you MEMORY CARD along with the folder like GAME FOLDER, PICTURE FOLDER, ISO, PSP, etc.

5. Put the ISO/CSO games on ISO folder.

5. After transferring the data, remove your usb connection from the your computer.

6. Then go to system settings, TURN OFF the UMD AUTO START, TURN OFF the UMD Cache and TURN OFF the USB auto connect.

7. Also, on system settings, you need to change the character set to US (437) - Latin 1 (1252). After these steps, you are now ready to run the CHICKHEN R2.

PROCEDURE ON RUNNING CHICKHEN R2 with slim mod.tiff or slim mod2.tiff

1. On your PSP, go to PHOTO FOLDER, then choose MEMORY STICK, and once the picture square images appears, SCROLL DOWN VERY FAST at the last picture (it was slim mod.tiff to activate) within 1-3 seconds. GREEN LIGHT FLASHES if successful and your PSP is upgrade. Just wait for it to reboot itself.

Note : If not successful or green light doesn't flahes, just repeat the procedure of RUNNING CHICKHEN R2.

2. After updating, GO TO GAME FOLDER and active the CFW GEN-C updater. AND IT"S FINISH.

THE ISO/CSO Games are now viewable and playable in the GAME FOLDER.

NOTE : DO NOT REMOVE OR DRAIN YOUR BATTERY BECAUSE YOUR FIRMWARE WILL BE CORRUPTED AND NEED TO REPEAT THIS PROCESS AGAIN.

And I hope it will help you guys out there. Please rate and comment this blog. Good luck to all.

I got a new usb for my psp and it says i need to update from version 5.00 to 6.00, but when i try to update it it says that the configeration system is not correct and should contact technical...

what is your psp model. Is it piano version (version model 3000 series)? If yes, do the following:

1. you need to restore default setting.
2. put the gen-c software to games folder
3. put chicken software to the photos folder,
4. then activate the chicken software by going to photos folder and choose fast the last picture of chicken photo and wait for the green light flashes (which means it is upgrade to 6.31 version.

hint: sometimes activating chicken doesn't activate immediately in one time alone and you have to repeat activating the chicken until the green light flashes.

5.and then go to games folder and active gen-c sotfware to be able to start the psp games. repeat the process if the games was lost or corrupted.

after that you can now go to games folder if you have games there to start playing.

This is an update to:

HP LaserJet P4015 - Not Picking Up Paper

HP now recognise this as a manufacturing fault and have released a service note for it and will send you a new fuser free of charge. The description of the fault is:

When a print job is sent to the printer, the printer will display processing job on the control panel, and will continually ramp up and down attempting to print the job. After several minutes the printer will return to ready without posting any error messages. Occasionally, after several minutes the print job will print.

The fix for the fault is:

The fuser needs to be replaced and firmware needs to be upgraded to version 04.060.7 or higher.

The customer will need to download the latest firmware from hp.com, version 4.060.7 or higher. The firmware can be downloaded from hp at "hp.com/go/support" . Select Download drivers and software (and firmware) in step 1 and in step 2 type in the printer name, LJ P4014, LJ P4015 or LJ P4515

It's probably best to update the firmware before you phone HP to report the fault, or at least tell them you have. If you do update the firmware, you will notice some extra numbers and letters on the display when the printer initialises. This is normal, it's probably used by HP staff for diagnosis.

The fuser is a customer replaceable part, and does not require a service technician to install. If the customer requests a service technician to install the fuser the customer will be responsible for the labor. The fuser can be sent directly to the customer with instructions to upgrade their firmware.

What this means is that HP will send you a new fuser to fit yourself.

The models covered by this service note are:

HP LaserJet P4014 Printer series, HP LaserJet P4015 Printer series, HP LaserJet P4510 Printer series.

EFFECTIVE DATES
Start: 2010-01-01

Expiration: 2010-12-31

What this means, is that HP will send you a new fuser for this fault until the end of 2010, although they do sometimes extend the active time period for service notes.

Hope it helps..

Thanks for using fixya......

How can i update the firmware of my psp in firmware 6.00

  1. Get the firmware upgrade data. You can get one on the official PSP website[1]. When clicking Download Now, remember to Save it, not open it. The file name should be EBOOT.PBP Save somehwhere where you can access it easily e.g. Desktop, My Documents, C:\. 180px-psp_619.jpg magnify-clip.png
  2. Plug in your USB cable that you have bought or had to your PC or Computer (same thing). On your PSP you should go to System Settings and on the 2nd from the top press (X) on USB Connect. On your computer it should say something like New Hardware detected USB Mass Storage Device. In My Computer there should be something named "Removable Disk"
  3. Click on the Removable Disk and inside there might (might not be) be a folder named "PSP". Click on the PSP folder to go inside of it and inside the PSP there might be a subfolder named "GAME".
  4. Inside the GAMES folder, create a new folder and name it UPDATE in caps, no spaces. Inside that UPDATE folder drag and drop that EBOOT.PBP that you downloaded earlier.
    • If the PSP folder and GAME folder are not there, you can just create them. Remember that the folder name MUST be in CAPITAL LETTERS and the the GAMES folder is INSIDE the PSP folder, don't mess this up or your PSP will ignore your folders
  5. "Safely Remove Hardware" -- this should be in your Icon Bar on the Right side of your start bar.
  6. Fully charge your PSP and plug it into the wall. Go to the Games Area; there should be an Icon that says Memory Stick Choose that by Pressing "X" and you'll see PSP Update Version *.** (* meaning what version you've downloaded onto your PSP).
  7. Press PSP Update Version *.**, It'll clear the screen for a few seconds and come back on saying "PSP System Software Version *.**" It has a "Start" option or says that you already have that version. Press the Start if you want to upgrade.
  8. Go through the User Agreement and start the upgrade Process. When it starts, remember not to even touch that PSP. Just leave it alone on the floor, desk , chair, etc.

[edit]Steps-Method 2
  1. Go to network update, under Settings.
  2. The PSP searches for possible updates.
  3. When the updates come, bypass all agreements etc. by pressing X button.
  4. Let it update in peace.

[edit]Steps-Method 3
  1. Make sure you have a UMD inserted.
  2. Go to game and choose PSP update.

Unsuccesful installation firmware 2.30 to 2.50

I had a similar problem. After a few attempts I was able to update the firmware to version 2.50. This is what I did:
1. Close the ANT Agent application by right clicking on the icon next to the clock and selecting Exit.
2. Reset the Forerunner 405. Mine was frozen on the LOADER screen. I held both buttons for a few seconds and released them when the rebooting process started.
3. Open the ANT Agent application and then go to the GARMIN webpage to download the update. Make sure you have the latest ANT Agent version.
4. The update process started and ended in about 2 minutes. Then it started again and lasted anothe 9 minutes.
5. The watch reboots with the new firmware version but retains all data amd customs settings.
Good luck.

Hot shots golf out of bounds troubles

This happened to me as well. The first time, my PS3 seemed to hang during the second update. The next time, I quit the update because I thought the system was stuck in an infinite loop. Turns out that it isn't.

Start from the beginning by deleting the game data file from the PS3 hard drive. Boot up HSG:OOB and wait for it to install. This takes a while, as I think it is something like a 5GB install. When it is finished, go into the game and select the Online option.

You'll see the "Checking version" message followed by a couple of status bars. Depending upon your connection, the update can take anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour. Just walk away and come back to it. When it is finished, you'll be told to press the PS button to quit and then restart the game.

Once back on the main screen, you should see a version # that wasn't there before, on the right side of the screen. You might want to write this number down.

Go back into the Online option. Once again, you'll see a "Checking version" message followed by a couple of status bars. It looks the same as the last update, so you might think this is an error. It isn't. Apparently, rather than updating once to the latest version, the game is going through a series of updates (2 or 3 of them). It's like taking Windows 95, updating it to Windows 98, then updating it to Windows ME, and finally updating it to Windows XP.

Wait for the update process another time or two. For me, each subsequent update took less time. Something like 20-30 minutes for the last one. When you are asked to quit and restart the game, check the version on the main screen. It should be different than what you wrote down after the first update. For me, my updates ended with ver. 090311201. Finally, I was able to select online and it didn't check the version but asked for my login info.

Whenever they update the game, I'm sure we'll have to download the update once again...but hopefully each new update will be minor. But those people who purchase the game brand new will end up going through even more updates with each passing year.
