The interfacing is just an "echo" of the pattern part, ie collar, and adds body to the fabric piece. There are fusible and sew-in interfacing. If it's sew-in, you just lay the fabric and interfacing together and sew as one piece.

Not sure what your question is. To finish the facing raw edge, you can turn it and topstitch it, pink the edge, or if you have a serger, just serge the edge.

I lost my instructions for pattern 5527 (diaper bag). Can you help?

You could contact Simplicity and see if they can help.

or find a free diaper bag pattern on line and use as a guide.

bags arent too difficilt, usually need to interface well, attach pockets, straps, then sew lining to top edge wrong side to wrong side, leaving a bit of the lining or side seam open so you can get inside to attach lining seam allowances to bag seam allowances to hold together.

My wife has a Janome 5700 Memory Craft sewing machine along with a number of Janome memory cards containing embroidery designs. Is it possible to transfer the designs from these memory cards to her Windows...

I don't have a 5700,mine is a 9000 but the cards that came with mine are a plastic aprox 1 inch square. This machine came out before there was any type of interface to connect to a back up system ie; USB or firewire. I would assume that if you can download new patterns from the internet, than you could back them up.If your machine does not have that capability then you will just have to find new memory cards for you machine online and order them.

Hoop arm won't slide to start position

You can try re-loading the program, it is possible the static spark has corrupted one of the chips if this is the case and the re-loading does not fix the problem then I am afraid you need the services of a sewing machine tech.
