There may not be a battery, it may run off the 24VAC from the furnace/ac control transformer.

The answer:
No, However it is recommended that you record your program schedule...
It makes no mention of any battery keeping the memory.

Thermostat is heating house to desired temp before programmed time

there is a installer setup in this thermostat. do you still have the book?
you will need to gain access to the installer setup/programming and in it you will find a setting called auto recovery turn it off. what this does is after a few days of initally running the system figured out it needed to come on earlier and is starting before the set time to come on... you can turn it off and then will have to adjust depending on insulation value/construction type of home how soon you want it to come on so that it reaches desired temperature when you want...
hope this helps you out,,,

Hi. I am just wanting to control the heat the manual way. I had someone come in to service my furnace and they set it for the week. How do I cancel that, and just have it so I can turn it up when I want,...

From the Operating Manual: _______________Manual Operation for Non-Programmable Thermostats Press the SYSTEM button to select Heat or Cool and use the [Up] or [Down] buttons to adjust the temperature to your desired setting. After selecting your desired settings you can also press the SYSTEM button to select AUTO to allow the thermostat to automatically change between Heat and Cool. _______________________Manual Operation (Bypassing the Program) Programmable Thermostats Press the [Up] or [Down] buttons and adjust the temperature wherever you like. Then press HOLD. This will override the program. The HOLD feature bypasses the program and allows you to adjust the temperature manually, as needed. Whatever temperature you set in HOLD will be maintained 24 hours a day, until you manually change the temperature or press RUN to cancel HOLD and resume the programmed schedule. ____________________________________________________ *Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle. When the thermostat calls for heat it should run until the room reaches the temperature setting then shut off. Is the blower motor running and can you feel air coming out of the vents? It sounds like the blower is either not running or putting out enough air to keep the furnace heating. The blower moves the heat from the heat exchanger to the room, if it can't remove enough heat from the heat exchanger there is a limit switch that will shut the burner off if it gets to hot and that's what it sounds like is happening.

Thermostat problems

Have you confirmed that the thermostat is programmed correctly?

Did the thermostat ever control the temperature of the house properly?

When you indicate "kick", are you talking about flipping the Auto-On switch back and forth? The Auto-On switch only controls the fan, and no heating or cooling (Auto - fan runs on call for heat or cool, On- fan runs all the time.).

If "kick" means making the heating work, and if you have the same problem for making the cooling work, chances are good you have bad thermostat.

If the problem only occurs with the heating, and cooling works fine, then the problem could be in the controller board of the furnace, assuming you have a more recent (1990's or newer) furnace.
