Hello, even though the ignitor is glowing it doe's not mean it's working, Igniters should pull 3.5 amps to be working correctly and should have a brillient yellow glow to it, when an igniter gets old it will glow more of an orange flavor and will take a long time or not at all to light the gas :) Your ignitor is bad you should replace it. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck. Mike

Whirlpool oven wont start, is there away to light the pilot?

You don't say what model you have. That being said, I highly doubt it uses a pilot light. It most likely uses a glow bar igniter to ignite the gas. Take the bottom of the oven cavity off (remove the racks and you'll see a couple screws in the back on the bottom. Remove those and the bottom of the oven cavity should lift up).

Once you have the bottom cover off, turn on your oven and watch the glow bar. If it glows bright white, it's good and your gas valve is most likely bad. If it doesn't glow at all, or it's not very bright, or it has one bright white spot on it and the rest of it looks a little yellowish orange, then you need to replace the glow bar igniter.

Anyway, that's where I'd start.

Good luck!

Takes a long time to get to temperature

If it's a gas oven and has an electric element starter (glows orange to ignite the gas), the element can be taking a long time to heat up, which means the oven doesn't light for a while and so seems to lake a long time warming up. If you turn it on and then look at the area where the flame should be (broiler) and the flame takes a long time this could be the problem. This happened to me and replacing the element fixed it. Now the flames light within 30 second or so.

Whirlpool gas oven will not heat

most likely you have a bad ignitor, pull out the racks and remove the floor to the stove, turn on the bake,if the ignitor glows but it takes more than 40 seconds for the flame to light you have a bad ignitor even though it glows and if it doesn't glow at all the ignitor is bad, also if the broil lights on top and the bake doesn't change out the ignitor.next time send the model number and i can look up your machine to help you better.

Oven doesn't light. The element glows, but the

Hello Randolph,

Since the ignitor glows it eliminates all other possibilites and the ignitor is weak and not drawing enough amprage(3.3 to 3.6) to open the gas valve, i know you going to have a hard time believing that since it does come on, but i base my diagnosis on my 30 years experience as a appliance repair technician

My whirlpool 465 oven won't come on. The stove works but the oven won't light.

Most of the time the ignitor will go out, or is going out. Turn the oven on and see if you see a glow. You may have to pull the bottom drawer out to see this or even possibly remove the pan in the bottom of the inside oven. If you see the ignitor glowing but still not lighting it is not drawing enough amperage to open the safety valve (gas valve). That part will more than likely solve your problem and will cost you no more than $50 normally.

Oven doesn't heat up

Hi, Even though your igniter is glowing it's bad..A igniter should glow brillient yellow for it to be able to light the gas...basically whats happening in your case is although the igniter is drawing the correct amps to open the gas valve it is not getting hot enough quick enough to light it..change the igniter and you should be good to go. Good Luck!!! Mike

Whirlpool Accubake Super Capacity 465 gas range. Oven won't light

Some gas ranges may take 10 or so minutes to light.
Other than that you may have a defective glow bar ignitor.
If it glows and does not light the reistance in the ignitior has failed.
