I have a Frigidaire FRS6R5ESBN and my ice maker stoped working i have tested the motor 596 ohms the inlet water valve 191 ohms all the micro switchs test ok. I don't know what to test next. Can I...

There are 2 types of icemakers that Frigidiare uses each style can be started to see if they will send power to water valve to fill the i/m w/water

It seems to me you have the type with just on big gear in the center under the cover and a smaller motor gear to drive the big gear (thats the type that has microswithes inside of it) to start it manually pull the fingers downward in a clockwise direction till fingers are in the 3 or so o'clock position and from there it should continue to run a 360 rotation by itself and at one point on the plug at the water valve their will be 120 volts ac to that plug. If 120 vac at the plug restart it again by rotating fingers and toward the end when usually the valve should open and send water to i/m . If 120 vac at valve yet no water to icemaker the water valve is bad and needs to be replaced so long as water pressure from house plumbing to valve is good. IF poor water pressure determine why that is

The other style has a gear under cover that says DO NOT ROTATE MANUALLY for that one place a jumper wire in the small holes marked T&H the i/m should start, when click is heard (usually within 10 seconds) remove jumper wire and again check for 120 vac at valve. Just as with other i/m type if 120vac at valve the valve is bad

Installed a model# UKI1000AXX ice maker on a Model# CFB1921AR Magic Cher refrigerator. Can not get voltage to the water silinoid has been installed in the refrigerator for appox. 48 hours.

Yes you can check the voltage to the valve, but first a word of caution. To start the icemaker and let it cycle so toward the end of the cycly power will be sent to the valve, THE ICEMAKER MUST BE STARTED USING A JUMPER WIRE AND THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS AND RESULT IN YOU BEING SHOCKED IF NOT DONE CORRECTLY. If you chose to proceed and check for power to valve;
remove front cover of i/m
usea jumper wires about 16 or 18 gauge and strip both ends so about a 1/2" one wire is bare on each end
place bare ends into holes on icemaker front marked as T & H
the main gear will start moving, the jumper wire may have to wiggled to get a good connection
once gear moves and within 10 seconds you will hear a click REMOVE JUMPER WIRE AS SOON AS CLICK IS HEARD
the fingers on icemaker will rotate in a 360 degree rotation,if you think of the fingers as the small hand of a clock in about the 10 to 12 o'clock position their should be 120 vac at water valve if i/m is good. if 120 vac present replace water valve, if 120 vac not present replace icemaker

I cannot get the solenoid valve to open on my Frigidaire IM115 icemaker. I need to know what sends the voltage to the solenoid valve, and also what voltage I should read there if it is working...

Hello Craig,

The voltage should be 120 vac, what you do is reach into icemake grasp the ejector fingers and rotate them down a little them the i/m will rotate a full 360 degree cycle, toward the end after if their were ice it would get ejected is when for about 7-15 second 120 volts ac should be at water valve. If their is 120 at some point before icemaker stops rotating the water valve is bad if it does not fill the i/m ( as logn the water pressure to valve is good) if 120 not present the i/m is bad and not sending down power to valve.

Good luck, i hope that helped you,

The water solenoid valve controls flow to icemaker you can put 120 volt to it and see if it opens .If it is good then its not getting power when icemaker calls for fill

You can try to advance your icemaker by removing the white cover on your icemaker and turn the smaller gear counterclockwise to advance the icemaker. When the icemaker starts wait until the ejector blade gets to 10 oclock position this is where it calls for water. The test would be unplug the coil on the valve and put a meter lead on each one. If you see 120 volts then replace the valve. If you dont see it it could be the water switch inside the head of icemaker.

GE refrigerator wiring diagram

Icemaker must be at 28 degrees to make ice. The harness supplying the power should have 120 volts there at all times, and the icemaker itself is the device that switches the power off and on once all requirements are met. Your diagram for the fridge is on the rear service panel, or in a packet on the insisde rear..accordianman

It sounds like you have covered all the primary troubleshooting checks. There is only one thing I can think of at this point.
Check the voltage coming to the water valve during the icemaker cycle. The power to the valve is decreased by the resistence of the icemaker heater from 120 volts down to about 108 volts. It is not uncommon to have a valve that will open when you put 120 volts to it, as you do when you switch solenoids, but not open at the decreased voltage when it goes through the icemaker circuit.
If you are getting voltage to the valve when it cycles, and you know for sure the water line to the icemaker is clear, then you will need to replace the valve.
Post back and let me know what you find.
