Remove old power unit, put it in the trash. Get a new one and install it.

Where does the wires hook from motor to where? Automatic Doorman 455

Is the door opener motor bad? You say, "the wires"--is there a plug on the end of the wires that can be plugged into an outlet? If so, thy plugging it into an extension cord instead of the outlet in the garage ceiling and see if you still trip a breaker. If you do, it's a problem in the opener. There are things to do to locate the source of the problem. It the breaker trips instantly when you press the button then there's a dead short somewhere. Does the motor get warm or hum before the breaker trips? If so, then maybe the door mechanism is locked up and the motor cant turn. Did you check to see if your garage door is locked?

Garage door remotes don not work

Assuming you're referring to a garage door opener remote ... i.e. not a problem with washing machines ....
If you've already checked the battery ... i.e. the battery is not low or dead ... and the garage door does work using the (wired) opener, you may have to re-program the remote again. Usually, the remote will loose the garage door code ( data ) when the battery is low or dead.

Unplug the opener and plug a lamp in. Your breaker may be tripped.

Lights on overhead unit on garage door opener will not go off

This is not too uncommon. What tripped the breaker in your house also got to one of the relays on the logic board of your opener. The only cure I know of is a new logic board.

Clicking sound - door doesn't open or close

Turn off the breaker for the unit. Set up a good ladder, change the bulb. Release the opener from the door, turn the breaker on, and try the opener while it is disconnected from the door. If it works, give the chain a good spray of wd40, followed by a good spray of chain lube or spray grease. Operate the motor back and forth, spray grease wherever the chain attachment rides the bar. Once it is working good and free, try to connect it to the door and test it. If it has a problem, check your door rollers and hardware.

Craftsman garage door opener trips the GFCI

When garage doors get sticky, bent, and the chain needs lube they will trip the controls. A door may suddenly reverse for no apparent reason, that is friction. A GFCI is real sensitive to load. Also check the wiring to the unit. Any bad connection will upset the GFCI. Check all the way back to the breaker box, sometimes the screws on the wires need to be tightened.

How do I re-code my Raynor Garage door opener Model 61 rdg (on Remote) Serial # 17592 (on opener) Year 1992? I am a new resident in the house with this garage door opener. The remote control opener worked...

on the back of your garage door opener there is a colored learn button--press and release-the learn indicator light will glow for a short time usually 30 seconds. within thirty seconds press and hold the buton on the hand held remote that you wish to operate your garage door. release the button when the motor unit lights blink. if you don;t have a light, two clicks will be heard. it has learned the code. procedure will be different for multi function control.
