Question about Nilfisk Vacuums
Need to remove wheels to get at the cord rewind to check the mains lead as it's intermittent power when the power cable is wiggled where it exits the cleaner.

Check brush roller is spinning & that belt has not snapped.
Check behind brush roller for blockages, Check clear pipe for rips or splits.

You have to take the wheels off first to get at two securing screws on each side of the cleaner. First of all remove the plugs in the centre of each wheel (you will probably damage them prizing them out but they are available online as replacements if you make to much of a mess - look online anyway to see what you are dealing with).

Not sure what a bacteria smell is perhaps you mean a mildew type smell.
If you have picked up something wet, start at the front of the vac and work your way to the exhaust.Change the front most filter first. Baking soda may help to eliminate some of the odor.
Personally as an allergy suffer, which you may be given the Brand I would remove all and let them and the tank air outside. Meanwhile install a fresh set.
