It's all well and good for all these people to tell you how to continue to reset the ink absorber count but take a second to think why it says it? Inside all ink jet printer there are sometimes many felt pads that absorb the waste ink. Once they become full of ink, what happens? Well they cannot absorb any more so that ink needs to go somewhere. Where? of course all over the base of the printer and eventually over your desk/table. So when it tells you to replace them take it to your Canon service agent and have them changed. Its usually quite a big job as they are in the base of the printer. Only a few machines allow the user to change them.

SOURCE: printer says ''waste Ink absorber is full'' see service center

This is what the manual says: Ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber placed in the machine. Press [OK] to cancel the error so that you can continue printing. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be done until the waste ink absorber is replaced.
Canon recommends to contact a Canon service representative as soon as possible.

It's Very Simple

Just Enter in Service Mode of your printer and clean absorbers count.
To enter in SERVICE MODE
1) Power off Printer
2) Push and hold "Resume" button and then push and hold "Power" button
3) Hold the Power button, then release and 2 times press Resume button
4) Led indicators must change
5) Release all buttons
6) Then printer in Service Mode
(If something wrong, repeat 1-6)

To clean absorber counter,
7) Press "Resume" Button 4 Times and after press Power button. It's all! Your absorber count is EMPTY!

In SERVISE MODE you can do several useful things:
To print Service Nozzles test, press "Resume" 1 time and press Power
To print EEPROM data, press Resume 2 times and press Power.

DO NOT press Resume 3 times and POWER. It will reset some EEPROM data settings

In printer canon ip 1800 is showing ink absorber is full cant use the printer

Hope you find this information helpful.
The printer has a built-in ink absorber to hold the ink used during Print Head Cleaning, for example. Eight flashes indicates that the ink absorber is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the ink absorber becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative. (You will need to replace a particular part of the printer. Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be performed until the ink absorber is replaced

What is e 27 and e 8??

Those two are error codes, and they mean the following:

E8 - The waste ink absorber is almost full. Press the OK button to clear the error.
Printing can be done until the waste ink absorber becomes full. If the waste ink absorber becomes full, please contact your local Service Center for replacement of the absorber and machine maintenance.
The waste ink absorber is a part inside the machine, which absorbs ink used in the cleaning operations, etc.

E27 - Manual does not specify what this means, but tells you what you should do: Turn the machine off, and remove the power plug from the outlet. About ten minutes later, plug it in again, and turn the machine on. If the problem is not resolved, the machine may require servicing. Please contact your local Service Center.
You can read more about the error codes on Canon website.

Canon ip1800 ink absorber is full, cannot remove Cartridge

Hi ...

This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible by pressing the <Resume> button on the printer. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.

Please vote if this helps ... Cheers :)

The ink absorber is full and printer won't print.

Normally when you get the "ink absorber is full" message, you would take machine to a Canon service center. They will either clean the ink absorbers or more than likely they will replace the ink absorbers. After replacement, the ink absorber full message will have to be reset which is done in the service mode.

Printer message is: used ink tank is full. Q. where is it...and how do I empty it?

The waste ink tank on Canon printers is the ink absorber which holds the ink used during Print Head Cleaning process. When the error message indicates that it is nearly full, Canon indicates that the printer should be taken to the nearest Canon service center to replace the absorber. There is no supported "do it yourself" replacement for this piece of the printer. As per Canon:

This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible. Press the <OK> button to cancel the error. You will still be able to print for a short period.

If you feel your product might require service, Canon has excellent service options, and we are eager to provide any assistance you may need. Click the link below to locate an authorized service facility and obtain further instructions.

So, to answer your direct question directly, if the message said "nearly full", you can press OK and continue to print for a short time. If it indicated it is full the printer will not function until Canon services the machine and resets the printer.

If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level.
